I have a confession…

I don’t have it all together.

Not even close. 😅

I’m not perfectly organised. I don’t always get everything on my list done. I procrastinate. I get overwhelmed. And I probably beat myself up most days for something I haven’t managed to do.

I should be doing more.

Why can’t I get anything done?

Everyone else seems to manage.

And social media definitely doesn’t help.

We’re constantly seeing snippets of people seemingly doing it all - running businesses, exercising, eating perfectly, keeping immaculate homes, being present with their families, looking amazing while doing it… and somehow remembering to drink 2 litres of water. 😂

Even though I know I’m only seeing a tiny, edited part of someone’s life, sometimes that little voice still creeps in…

Why aren’t you doing more?

But here’s the thing.

I’m human.

And so are you.

Some days I’m productive and feel like I’ve got my life together.

Other days I can be busy all day and still wonder what on earth I actually achieved.

Some days the workout happens.

Some days the house is tidy.

Some days the to-do list gets smashed.

And some days… none of it does.

And that’s OK.

Maybe we need to stop expecting ourselves to get everything right, all of the time.

Maybe instead of asking…

“Why am I not doing enough?”

we could ask…

“What if what I managed today was enough?”

I think I need that reminder just as much as anyone else. 🤍

So, no - the person behind Active Balance definitely does not have it all figured out.

I’m learning, juggling, dropping a few balls, picking them back up and trying again… just like everyone else.

What if we stopped trying to be perfect and gave ourselves a little more grace instead?

Take your pick from the below or comment all 🙈

🔸️Neck stiffness / “computer neck”
- Helps reduce muscle tightness and improve range of motion
🔸️Shoulder tension
- Targets tight upper traps and shoulder muscles that often feel sore or knotted
🔸️Upper back tightness
- Works on mid-scapular and thoracic muscle stiffness from posture or lifting
🔸️Lower back tightness
- Can ease general guarding and muscle spasm if it’s not severe or injury-related
🔸️Hip flexor tightness
- Loosens front-of-hip muscles that commonly get tight from sitting
🔸️Glute (butt) tightness
- Reduces “achy” or restricted glute muscles that contribute to discomfort and stiffness
🔸️Leg muscle tightness (quads/calves/hamstrings)
- Helps with soreness from standing, running, or workouts
🔸️Stress-related muscle tension
- Lowers overall body tightness linked to stress and poor sleep
🔸️Headache caused by neck/jaw tension
- Often helps tension headaches when they’re driven by neck/shoulder tightness
🔸️Post-workout recovery tightness
- Improves comfort and circulation after exercise to reduce leftover stiffness

September Challenge ✨💛

Find 1 'glimmer' a day - a small, calming moment that helps you feel even slightly better. No pressure, no rules… just something kind for your mind and body.

In September lets focus on the good bits you might usually miss. 👀🌿

Keep an eye on my stories for my glimmers (and ideas to try) as the month goes on. 💫

My goal is simple: help people feel better in their bodies and enjoy moving again.

Not in some complicated way, just real, everyday progress. Like: easing pain, getting moving again, and actually doing something for yourself (because you deserve that!).

This is what I believe:

• You DON'T have to “push through” pain to get results
• You CAN feel comfortable in your body again
• Movement should feel GOOD, not stressful

If you’re dealing with aches that keep coming back, feeling a bit stuck, or you’re just ready to start caring for yourself properly, I’m here for that!

I offer massage therapy, personal training, and 1:1 yoga sessions in my private studio room in Carluke. It’s calm, it’s private, and it’s all about you.

My aim is always the same:

• help you ease pain
• help you get moving
• help you feel proud of yourself for taking this step

If you’ve been thinking, “I should really do something for me…” then let’s do it. 💛

Surround yourself with positivity ✨️

Today I spent the morning hiking Ben A’ann with Baby T and my pal and it reminded me how you feed your mind matters.

When you’re around good energy, it’s like your body finally gets the message: we’re okay.
And that feeling doesn’t just disappear when you get home. It sticks with you.

If you’ve been stuck in a negative rut, here’s your sign to make one small change today:
Put on your shoes and get outside for 10 minutes.
Walk around the block. Stretch in the sun. Just move your body like you mean it.

You don’t need a “perfect” day. You just need a small step.

If you want to feel better in your body (massage, PT, yoga—whatever fits you), I’m here. 🤍

I got reminded yesterday of a lesson I needed: you can’t control everything.

Sometimes the strongest move is to breathe, ease off the grip, and keep going with confidence.

If you’re holding tension or feeling stuck, come see me. We’ll take it step by step, and you’ll leave feeling proud of yourself.

Still a badarse warrior - just letting life unfold its way. 🙌
Let go a little and let life happen.

Thank you to _.breatheandbe._ for a lovely class in a beautiful setting 💛🌻

1. Your therapist asks questions before they start.
A good session begins with listening, not guessing. Talking about your goals, pain points, health history, and comfort level helps create a treatment that's actually meant for just you.

2. You feel in control of your session.
Whether it's the pressure, music, temperature, towels, or deciding not to have a certain area worked on, your input is welcomed at every stage. Your body, your boundaries. Always.

3. Your nervous system is considered, not just your muscles.
You hear me talk about this a lot, let's talk about it a little more!
A quality massage isn't always about "digging deeper." Sometimes slowing down, matching your breathing, or adjusting techniques helps your body relax enough to actually let go of tension.

4. You're never rushed.
You have time to get settled before the session and a moment to reconnect afterward. Healing doesn't happen on a strict timer, and transitioning slowly helps your body integrate the work.

5. The room feels safe enough to simply exist. Whether you want to chat, cry, laugh, sit in silence, or fall asleep, there's no expectation to perform. The best massage rooms create an environment where your body feels safe enough to rest.

I hope each and everyone of you that comes to see me, sees how much I put into these 5 things to create the best space for you!

Walking is seriously underrated.

It’s simple, and it comes with so many wins... weight loss, fitness, mental clarity, and if you’re lucky, a bit of vitamin D ☀️

I set myself a goal: minimum 7,000 steps a day from being 4 weeks postpartum.
Once I hit 7 days in a row, I bump it to 8,000, then keep going.

So far? I’ve only made it 3 days consecutively over the last 8 days, and honestly, that’s okay. I have a newborn. Some days I can’t even shower until mid-afternoon. That’s life.

Don’t give up after one bad day. Learn from it and aim for 1% better the next day. 💛

One walk still counts towards the benefits... fitness, mental clarity, weight loss. Even if you don’t hit the full goal, you still showed up, and that's what matters 🙌🏼

I found my toes 🙌🏼

I can't explain how good it feels to be introducing some gentle movement into my day.
If you find yourself sitting for prolonged periods of time, you will start to feel stiff, sore and lethargic. Sun salutations are a mindful, gradual sequence that eases joints and warms muscles without strain, even 5–10 minutes daily can add up to noticeable improvements in mobility, circulation and energy.
