5 things I’d invest in as a beginner nail tech 💅🏻

1. Education - I wish I’d have booked the nail course sooner. I left college after studying hair and beauty in 2014 but never felt fully confident. For the next 6 years I spent all my free time trying to retrain myself in nails until I stumbled across Glitterbels Training Academy. Six months after completing my acrylic and builder gel course with Glitterbels I quit my job and ventured out into the world as a full time, self employed nail tech. Your education lays the foundations for the business you are trying to build so finding the right course and educator is so important! Booking the course might just be the best decision you ever make 🥰
2. Prep tools - prepping the nail is essential to a clean looking and long lasting manicure. You wouldn’t paint the walls in your house without prepping and making sure that the walls are clear of debris and cleaned up before you apply your paint and it’s the same for nails. Good cuticle tools, files and brushes are the best way to secure a long lasting manicure.
3. Products - do your product research and make sure you are choosing a brand that has high quality and well researched products. Always use a matched system and follow the guidelines for application. Look into what products each client requires as not every nail system will work on every client. Some clients need builder but that doesn’t mean builder gel will survive everyone’s lifestyle.
4. Aftercare products - recommending your clients follows the correct aftercare advice is essential. It will keep their nails and skin healthy as well as ensuring the product lasts. Cuticle oils are a great add on to sell to your clients for them to use daily on their nails.
5. Gel paint - as someone who offers a lot of detailed nail art I could not live without it. Gel paint is a thicker consistency and it’s highly pigmented so is perfect for practicing french tips and nailart.
