Stop letting the "big guns" push your small business around! 💪

Have you ever had a client confirm a booking, cancel last minute, and try to walk away without paying?Too many small business owners cave because they feel outgunned by big brands or corporate teams.

But being small doesn't mean you have fewer rights. You are a legitimate professional.

Irecently had a major luxury brand try to cancel a 4.5-hour event just days before it was due to happen. A junior executive told me they wouldn't pay because "nothing was signed."

Here is what they forgot:

If you have a history of bookings, paid invoices, and clear terms on your website or email signature, you have an implied contract. They had even paid my cancellation fees in the past without a quibble!

So, I put my corporate head on. I bypassed the junior staff, googled their finance team and operations manager, and sent a formal Letter Before Action.The result?A full apology. The invoice is being handled, and my upcoming event with them is locked in.

My advice to you:

Put your terms and conditions everywhere—invoices, emails, and contracts. Keep flawless records of past bookings and payments.

Hold your nerve and know your rights.

They might never book me again, or I might choose never to work with them again. And that is fine! Everyone deserves to be treated fairly. Don't let anyone bully you out of your hard-earned income. 🙌

So sad to hear about the passing of Pam.

We lost touch quite some time ago with us living so very far apart and both having busy lives.

Daisy and I remember meeting her at FABAIC IN 2016 when I was asked to do a workshop over there.

Pam and her husband were really lovely and I remembered this lovely message she sent to me.

I had no idea that she was dealing with Stage 4 stomach cancer.

Rest in peace 😇❤️
