Skin Redefined Medical Aesthetics

Well helllooo everyone! It’s been a while, clinic has been mad busy and social media had to go on the back burner. This week has been a little quieter so given me time to catch up some essential admin and of course some treatments for myself!!

My pigmentation really bothers me, and I’ve thought of going down the route of laser or IPL, but I’ve got all the tools I need to tackle this in my own clinic, it’s just finding the time.

So here I am having a TXA peel. It’s a brand new peel from AlumierMD focused on treating inflammation (often the cause of pigmentation) and pigmentation directly.

It’s left my skin immediately looking beautiful and glowy. I’m usually really sensitive to peels but so far I’ve only had a bit of dryness at day 3, not even flaking.

Well goodbye boiling hot weather, sweaty bodies and rubbish sleep, hello to autumn, cosy nights, warm socks and face masks.

My skin can get really dry and congested this time of year, the wind and what seems to be an overnight drop in temperature really effects me!

I combat it with skincare to help maintain my skin barrier, such as switching to a richer moisturiser at night, exfoliating 3 times a week and a more gentle cleanser. This patient came because she wanted some treatments to give her a refresh ready for 60th birthday coming up. She originally wanted her nasolabial fold filled (the lines that run from the corner of the nose down towards the mouth. What she actually needed was some filler in the cheeks- the root cause of the problem. This was also part of the cause of the sinking around the eyes- I have not put any product in the under eye area at all.

I’ve also worked some magic around the chin to smooth and lift here too. The end result- refreshed, lifted and looking less tired.

You see filler doesn’t have to look obvious, my intention is always quite the opposite. I want you to see a noticeable difference and feel more confident, but not for the result to be unnatural or overfilled.

I’ve had such a wonderful day today, everyone I’ve treated has been really emotional after seeing their results and it’s rubbed off on me.

I’ve also had some lovely chats with people, some of them sharing their darkest secrets. Life isn’t often the picture of perfection that people show on social media, and if letting it all out on the couch during their treatment goes towards making someone feel better then I’m all for it.

Having a treatment isn’t just about doing something to change your skin, it’s about prioritising you, your health and your confidence. Sometimes it’s the first step in someone’s life towards a bigger change, a new relationship, a new job, recovering from a health issue.

The treatments may be superficial but the results run so much deeper.

People ask me this a lot, and the answer is always dermal filler! It’s just my passion, I love the artistic side of it, seeing my patient’s features lift immediately as I’m injecting and the best part- the look on their face when they see the difference in the mirror. There’s a lot of shame around having dermal filler treatment, and I suppose I’ve not shouted about my love for it on here so much before because it’s seen as bit taboo often because of the unnatural results we tend to see.

Let me tell you this- a good filler treatment shouldn’t be obvious to others.

We shouldn’t be ashamed of investing in ourselves and having a bit of filler here and there to restore what we may have lost over the years.

We wouldn’t hide going to the hairdressers or having a facial, this is just self care in a different way.

So there you go, I love filler and I’m not ashamed of it, and neither should you be too.
