Be Still Retreat

As we are on the cusp of facing a couple of super hot days, I thought a throwback to a very snowy lake might help cool people off! ❄️

This video was taken on 5th January and seeing this scene absolutely took my breath away! I knew the lake had frozen over, but had never imagined it would look this magical as I walked over the top of the hill 🤩

Since sharing our space with you in May 2024 and spending so much time here, I have really enjoyed witnessing the seasons come and go. The land goes into hibernation before the warmth of spring hits, and then things begin to change and colour pops nearly every day. It’s a wonder to watch 🌞🌳🍁🍃🍄🌛

I have loved every minute of this summer and long may it continue. And when it comes, I cannot wait for those ice cold dips again. They are so good for my soul 🤍

Sunset to Starlight – Floating Sound Journey 🌅🌌

📅 Friday 11th September | 7–9pm

This time, the experience is even longer. 2 blissful hours to fully unwind, float and soak up the magic 🌳

Friday night’s Golden Hour Floating Sound Journey was one to remember ✨

Our first gathering ended with the gentlest summer raindrops falling onto peaceful faces as everyone floated on the lake. Then, between sessions, the most almighty unexpected thunderstorm arrived. We honestly wondered if we’d be able to continue…⛈️

But our second group still showed up. They chose to slow down, to trust the moment, and somehow the clouds parted just in time for the most breathtaking golden hour 🌅

One of my favourite moments was watching Chessy play her crystal bowls while her own husband floated peacefully across the lake. It was so special to witness them sharing that experience together🌷

Mia and Chessy are such incredibly talented, caring women, and I feel so incredibly lucky to host them here and create these magical evenings together 🎼

Looking at the 22 pairs of shoes lined up on the bank reminded me that every pair belonged to someone who chose to make time for themselves. In a world that never seems to slow down, I think that’s something really worth celebrating 🤍

We’ve been dreaming up something new, thanks to a brilliant suggestion from one of our regular Floating Sound Journey attendees 🌞

Another lovely Wednesday morning beneath the willow dome 🌞

Tiny babies, good company, iced coffees, delicious pastries and the chance to slow down for a couple of hours in nature. These gentle mornings have become such a special part of the week, and it’s been so lovely to welcome you all. The tiny baby cuddles have been something 🥹🐥

Next Wednesday will be the last tiny baby gathering until early September and then over the summer holidays, I’ll be opening up the space for goslings of all sizes to come together for relaxed mornings in nature!! A chance for families to enjoy the land, make new friends, and simply spend time outdoors at a slower pace 🌳

Thank you to everyone who has been part of Little Goslings so far. I can’t wait to meet more of you over the summer for picnics, nature crafting, connection, and making wonderful summer memories together 🌿

Life has a way of pulling us in so many directions that we can forget what it feels like to simply be 🌞

These evenings are about creating the space to return to yourself. To slow down. To breathe. To reconnect with nature, with others and, most importantly, with yourself 🧘

Friday 7th August - 6pm - 9pm ✨

My boys and I are feeling so, so lucky to have this beautiful lake to escape to this week. In this heat it’s been an absolute saving grace. A swim followed by a cold outdoor shower under the trees is heaven! 🌞

My Dad created the lake over 24 years ago, and every tree, flower and plant around it has been planted by him over the years. If you’ve been here, you’ll probably know the magnificent willow at the top of the lake. That was just £2.50 from all those years ago! So many of the other plants were grown from cuttings he’d collected along the way, while others were gifts from family 🌳🌿🌱🌹🌸

The soil that came out of the lake was used to build the banks around it, creating the peaceful, tucked-away feeling it has today. And, in true Dad fashion, he came up with a clever rainwater system that runs from his eco home into the top pond before naturally feeding the lake below 🌧️💧

I was eight when we became custodians of the land. My siblings and I spent endless days swimming, climbing trees, making dens and simply being outside. I grew up, travelled, bought houses, had my own family… and somehow found my way back here with a whole new appreciation for this special place 🦋

Now I get to watch my three boys make the same kind of memories, and I often catch myself wondering whether one day they’ll bring their own children here too 🥹

It’s funny how life comes full circle. What my Dad created all those years ago wasn’t just a lake. He created a place where childhoods would be shaped, memories would be made, and generations could gather. I don’t think any of us realised quite how special that would become 🤍
