Hi all, as you all know I have been very unwell, sadly my surgery has resulted in severe complications which have left me unable to eat. I am currently patient at Colchester hospital, decisions have been made regarding my nutrition by Dr Ralphs whom is a Coggeshall village resident, and Dr Gooding. Both of these gastro doctors have left a 40year old woman in bed starving to the point of clinical malnourishment for the past 4 months against the advice of 2 tertiary hospitals. Please if you can share this story, as I have no choice but to go public to ask for help and assistance anywhere and everywhere. I want to raise awareness of the current situation I am being left with despite advice from expert hospitals which is not being implemented.
I have confirmed small bowel volvulus with vascular compromise, every time I intake food liquid or solid to a degree to sustain life, I have a life threatening event of volvulus. These events carry a very real risk of death.
I was being maintained by TPN which is intravenous nutrition bypassing the gut so as to avoid emergency, this was initially placed by Colchester hospital theirselves! It was stopped abruptly by Dr Ralphs who took over my care 3 months after initial admission. He totally misunderstood the situation, declared that there was no reason I couldn’t eat currently and advised me directly that he was starving me purposely against all regulations in order to force me to eat. He advised me that I had never had an acute abdomen and I had never had an emergency event, despite my pleadings and attempts to show him evidence he refused to believe me. He accused me of lying and following the initial consultation I had with him, I caught him in the corridor with the nutrition team telling them all I had psychological problems and stating ‘she most definitely has personality disorder’. Apparently that gastro single-handedly diagnosed me with a mental health disorder after 40 years of life without any need for mental health intervention whatsoever or any diagnosed mental health disorders. He suddenly thought he was qualified to make such statements without any assessment from a qualified person.
I asked for a second opinion and Dr Gooding became involved, he decided that he understood I needed an operation and claimed that he would replace my TPN intravenous nutrition if I could find a surgeon to operate and a surgical date within the NHS - I have all the evidence of these conversations. I was finally reviewed by surgeons here after months of starvation and they did in fact offer that surgery. But instead of being true to his word, Dr Gooding still refused to reinstate my nutrition.
On the basis of his assumption I was forced to take oral nutritional again, despite taking as little as possible to survive whilst attempting to prevent a predictable emergency, I had yet another event within the hospital. The pain during these events is about the worst I can imagine, my inflammatory markers rise acutely, I vomit until everything is expelled from my stomach, developing an instant fever and I cannot even tolerate water for weeks afterwards.
Addenbrookes intestinal failure unit was approached for advice by Colchester hospital, they had a formal MDT reviewing all imaging and concluded that I require surgery as they felt there was an issue with the way my bowel was adapted as part of the surgery I had to remove my large bowel. They confirmed my scan report findings of volvulus and vascular compromise of my bowel. This would explain my symptoms and required surgery and TPN being reinstated to optimise me for surgery.
Surgeons here have again agreed to operate and visited me to state that TPN was indicated in this situation. However the gastro’s will not allow it, they instead insist that I take a risk with enteral feeding (tube feeding via the gut) which they admit could cause me another life threatening event and may not even work in any case. I am just 10 days from the date of surgery again and he expects me to attempt to wean onto a risky form of nutrition which is known to cause gastro intestinal upset initially even in patients without a compromised gut.
An MDT was held today, as the ward staff are not happy with this treatment, the gastro’s including Dr Ralphs still refuse to help me, they all agree that if I do not take their risky option of enteral feeding via the gut that they will leave me to die. Yes that’s right a 40 year old woman is being left with no option but to pass away because they refuse to follow advice from a tertiary hospital. They all now agree that I have no mental health conditions and have total capacity however they will not allow me to choose the treatment recommended by experts they had consulted with.
The CMO Angela Tillett is also in agreement with this course of action, despite the fact that regulations clearly state enteral feeding is contraindicated in the event of a mechanical issue which causes obstruction.
The safeguarding team also voiced their opinions regarding their concerns, they have no power to override the CMO. Martha’s rule calls have been made by ward staff and they also state they cannot override the hospital managers. Staff advise me they have never seen anything like it.
Basically this hospital have signed my death certificate and made so many failings in my care. I have no choice now but to make this public, because without taking action at this point I am facing an agonising death. I want to bring to the public attention the terrible treatment that I am suffering, as I am aware that there have been recent deaths at this hosptial through lack of nutrition in which the coroner ruled that the hosptial failed to intervene and preserve life.
It seems that nobody can override these consultants and are too scared to speak up. I have evidence of every single conversation I have had in this hospital. The constant changes in tactic and mental torture I have had to suffer. I am so weak now I can no longer mobilise outside of the ward and spend most of my time sleeping in my bed. Please share my story to raise awareness, I have little choice but to turn to the public forum now having exhausted every single avenue. I am so weak I have lost 25% of my body weight since they stopped nutrition and have watched myself deteriorate to a shadow of my former self, I am facing certain death if I lose much more weight and am only a few kilos away from potential organ shutdown. Thanks for reading
Big thanks to you all for your donations, if I haven’t thanked you personally please know that I have noticed & am extremely grateful. Unfortunately I couldn’t raise enough for private surgery but thankfully I was advised by my private surgeon that he is prepared to work alongside my NHS consultant at UCLH to do a combined surgery in a couple of weeks.
Your donations have already been spent on my private consults & tests I had in the build up to this offer. Private healthcare is super expensive!
I am in absolute turmoil & unsure what is going to happen to me. I am totally bedbound & scream & cry in agony everyday. But I have the NHS support I need now, my urologist at Guys Hospital has finally pulled his finger out to get my kidney Pexy surgery scheduled after my colon surgery.
Prayers are truly welcomed, I’ve never been more scared in my whole life. These are uncertain times, but I can’t give up, because I owe it to my children to fight with everything I can endure. Thank you all for your kindness it makes me believe there is still goodness in this world & I feel so sad that it has come to this.

Just to show you all why I am so desperate for this surgery. It is horrible to share these images but I do it in the hope you will be able to see why this is so urgent. Circled in the first photo is my remaining colon & that is clean in my pelvis even in when I am laying down, it should be under my ribs. In the second photo you can see clearly my stomach is being dragged down as well as my liver which is being torn apart by the prolapse. I am in AGONY! My kidneys also both prolapse twist & obstuct which is causing them to dysfunction & damage.
Doctors advise me they have never seen this kind of prolapse & there aren’t enough cases in the world to know what to do with me or what my outcome will be. But we need to remove the remaining colon in the hope it will prevent further prolapse of the rest of my organs. There are no specialists for this condition & I have been EVERYWHERE. So we just have to take it step by step to try & get me some quality of life back.
Currently I have a hospital bed set up in my room & round the clock care. I cannot move much at all & am on the strongest pain relief with little to no effect as it does nothing for the feeling of my organs twisting ripping & pulling. This deterioration has occurred in just 2 months & therefore this is progressive. I am now clinging on & hoping something catastrophic doesn’t occur before I can get surgery.
If anyone has any ideas for fund raising it would be great to hear it. I currently cannot think of anything although trying my best.

Thank you to a few clients have donated. One made an extremely generous donation which is incredible! Just to say it doesn’t need to be a huge amount, just buy me a coffee, even a few pounds would be amazing & so gratefully received. Or perhaps you could help by sharing ❤️
I have always worked tirelessly to help my clients, for many years before my illness & no doubt will never forget those that helped me in return & pay that kindness forward when/if I get back on my feet. My surgery is provisionally booked for 27th May, however I require some help & support to facilitate this. Anyone who knows me knows that it took a lot for me to ask for this help, but if ever there was a time I required support in my life, it is now.
Thanks for all the well wishes, please consider helping by even just sharing my go fund me. 🤞🙏🌈

Hi all, I have been quiet the past month or so because I am sadly unwell again. The good news is things are moving forward & I’m having surgery in the coming weeks. It’s only part of the whole picture but should hopefully make me more functional until long term surgeries are sorted. I miss you all, but I need to take some time out now to focus on my health.
Truly hope to see many of you on the other side of this poor health. I won’t be working again until I’m 100%. Take care everyone ❤️🙏
