I was thinking recently about how differently we trained years ago.
There were no shortcuts. We didn’t do a one-day course and suddenly become experts. Instead, we spent years learning our craft, studying, practising, making mistakes, and gradually building experience.
Much of that learning happened through the everyday tasks that came with the job. We cleaned treatment rooms, folded endless towels, stocked shelves, made the tea, watched experienced therapists, and learnt by being hands-on every single day. Many of us worked for little or no pay because we understood that experience was something you earned.
Even after qualifying in Level 3 Beauty Therapy in 1997 , I knew that wasn’t enough to build the career I wanted. I was eager to keep learning, improve my skills, and gain as much knowledge as possible.
That drive led me to study at the London School of Makeup. I invested further in my education because I wanted to become the best artist I could be. Alongside my studies, I spent countless hours doing free work, building my portfolio, refining my techniques, and gaining valuable experience. I am still training and learning i actually do 2 courses a year to brush on what i offer or learn something new. I am now level 5 vtct …I do however regret not finishing my dental nursing !!!
Looking back, those years of studying, training, volunteering, and working my way up shaped far more than my technical abilities. They taught me professionalism, dedication, confidence, and respect for the industry.
The beauty industry has changed enormously over the years, but one thing remains the same: there is no substitute for experience, hard work, and a genuine commitment to learning. Can anyone relate on how they became the person they are today 😊

before vs after ✨
Electrolysis is a highly precise method of permanent hair removal ⚡️
By treating each hair individually, it allows me to target areas that other methods can’t always fully resolve, including finer, lighter, or more stubborn growth.
You don’t always book because of an occasion.
Sometimes it’s just a feeling that something’s been off,
or that you need a reset.
And that’s reason enough.
