When was the last time you were the one being looked after? 💜

Not when somebody asked if you were alright and you automatically replied, "Yeah, fine!"

I mean properly.

When was the last time you stopped mentally organising everybody else's lives long enough to notice how YOU were feeling?

When was the last time you allowed yourself to receive some care, attention or support without feeling like you ought to be doing something productive instead?

We talk a lot about self-care. But sometimes even that becomes another job on the to-do list 🤦

And I think we forget that we don't have to find every bit of calm, comfort and reassurance entirely by ourselves.

Sometimes we find those things through other people.

That's why I'm creating The Art of Human Connection.

A 90-minute guided wellbeing workshop exploring meditation, calming breathwork, gentle massage, supported stretching and the importance of safe human connection.

You can come with a friend, family member or someone you feel comfortable with. You can also come on your own.

Everything will be fully clothed, guided and based around choice, comfort and consent.

Nine people are already on the waiting list, and I'd love to welcome a few more before I confirm our first Darlington date.

If you've read this and thought, "Oh, bloody hell, I could do with that," comment CONNECTION and I'll add you.

No commitment. Just first dibs when bookings open. 💜✨

I really do practise what I preach. ❤️

Human connection isn't just something I talk about in my treatment room. It's one of the foundations of our family life.

We co-sleep. And no, I have absolutely no intention of changing that any time soon. 😂

We love sleeping beside one another. It brings us both comfort, reassurance and a sense of closeness. And we both genuinely sleep better for it.

I'm very aware that co-sleeping isn't for every family, and that's absolutely fine. But it works beautifully for ours.

And it reminds me of something I talk about so often in my work.

We don't stop needing connection just because we grow up.

We all need to feel safe, supported, loved and connected. Sometimes that comes through conversation. Sometimes it's laughter, a hug, a hand to hold or simply having somebody beside us.

We live in a world that places so much emphasis on independence, productivity and learning how to manage everything ourselves.

But I think we sometimes forget how much comfort we can find in simply being close to another human being.

And that's a huge part of why I'm creating The Art of Human Connection.

A 90-minute guided wellbeing workshop exploring how meditation, calming breathwork, gentle massage, supported stretching and safe human connection can help us slow down and feel more supported.

Not because we need another thing to achieve.

But because sometimes we just need to remember that we don't have to do everything alone. ❤️

I'm currently gathering interest for the first workshop in Darlington. If you'd like to come along, comment CONNECTION and I'll add you to the waiting list.

And yes, before anybody asks, everybody will be keeping their pyjamas on.

Well, their actual clothes. You know what I mean. 🤣

Well… I think this has struck a chord 💜

Since I first mentioned The Art of Human Connection, people have already started joining the waiting list — before I’ve even announced a date or venue.

And I think that says something.

We spend so much time talking about self-care, stress management and regulating our nervous systems as though they're things we have to learn to do entirely by ourselves.

But humans aren't really designed to do everything alone.
Sometimes regulation looks like meditation, breathing or taking some quiet time.

And sometimes it looks like a hug. A reassuring hand on your shoulder. Someone gently massaging the tension from your neck. Sitting beside somebody who makes you feel safe enough to exhale.

That’s the space I want to explore with The Art of Human Connection.

A 90-minute guided wellbeing experience combining meditation, calming breathwork, gentle massage techniques, supported stretching and good old-fashioned human connection. 🌿

You can come with a friend, family member or someone you feel comfortable with — or come on your own.
Everything will be fully clothed, guided and based around choice and consent.

(Still not an o**y. I feel this may become the workshop's unofficial tagline. 🤣)

I’m currently gathering interest before I confirm the first Darlington date.

No commitment. I just want the people who've shown an interest to hear about it first.

So, what actually happens at The Art of Human Connection? ❤️

I’ve had such a lovely response to yesterday’s announcement, with four people already on the waiting list! 🥰

As this is something a little different, I thought I’d share more about what I’m creating.

We spend so much of our lives rushing, thinking, doing and looking after everyone else. Sometimes, even when we finally sit down, our nervous systems haven’t quite got the message that it’s okay to rest.

And that’s where human connection can be so powerful.

A reassuring hand on your shoulder. Someone sitting quietly beside you. The comfort of feeling supported without having to find the right words.

The Art of Human Connection is a guided wellbeing workshop exploring how connection, gentle massage and relaxation can help us feel more at ease and give our nervous systems an opportunity to settle. 🌿

We’ll begin with guided meditation and calming breathing exercises, then explore simple massage techniques and supported stretches in pairs.

There’ll be time to slow down, learn ways to help each other relax and, knowing me, probably have a few giggles along the way. 🤣

You’re welcome to come with a friend, family member or someone you feel comfortable with — or come on your own. Everything will be fully clothed, guided and based on choice and consent, so you can take part in whatever feels right for you.

My hope is that you’ll leave feeling a little more relaxed, a little more connected, and with some simple techniques you can share with someone you care about. ❤️

Human touch is one of the first ways we experience comfort. ❤️

As babies, we're soothed by the warmth of someone holding us. When we hurt ourselves, we instinctively place a hand over the sore spot. When someone we love is struggling, we might reach for their hand or offer a hug.

And sometimes, when words aren't enough, simply having someone beside us can mean everything.

Human connection is a fundamental part of our wellbeing.

Yet in the rush of everyday life, it's easy to go for long stretches without really slowing down and connecting with another person — or even noticing how much tension we're carrying in our own bodies.

That's why I'm creating something new at Unity Wellbeing.

🌿 THE ART OF HUMAN CONNECTION 🌿

A guided wellbeing workshop exploring how human connection, gentle massage and relaxation can help us slow down, feel more at ease and give our nervous systems an opportunity to settle.

Through guided meditation, calming breathing exercises, gentle massage techniques and supported stretches, we'll explore what it feels like to offer and receive care in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

You'll work in pairs, learning simple techniques you can take home and share with someone you care about.

Come with a friend, family member or someone you feel comfortable with. Coming on your own? You're welcome too, and can be paired with another solo attendee if you'd like.

Everything is fully clothed, guided and based on choice and consent. There's no pressure to participate in anything that doesn't feel comfortable for you.

A little time to slow down. A little space to reconnect. And a reminder that sometimes, the simplest forms of care can mean so much. ❤️

This morning I met myself on the mat for the second week. After a very turbulent year, I wanted to make a commitment to myself to reconnect with my body and make time to prioritise myself 💜

Week one was steady away. Flexibility has always been a real struggle for me, even when I trained hard for dancing, and I knew I was at risk of playing the comparison game, so I set myself up at the front, so I couldn't see the majority of the rest of the class, and I vowed not to push past the sweet spot; intense, but still leaving room to breathe. It worked, and I loved it.

Then came week two. A very nice and very pretty lady stations herself next to me and as the class progresses, it's obvious she's been practicing a very long time, and is really very proficient. In the meantime, there were asanas in the class that I simply couldn't access, my body just wouldn't let me, and I was struggling to keep up with the pace of the flow. I felt frustrated, and deflated, but whilst I was moving I could push it down and crack on.

Enter savasana (aka co**se pose, and in my opinion the hardest pose in yoga). Now anyone who knows me will tell you that lacking in self esteem is not ordinarily I problem I have. But sweet Jesus did I meet my ego when I stopped, lying on my back, staring up at the ceiling. The inner critic piped up...

"You don't belong in this class."

"You can't do it."

"You're not good enough to be here."

And I sobbed. And after? I felt light again, like a massive weight had been lifted.

This is the true yoga. We're so busy oftentimes that autopilot takes over and even when we feel 'fine', we're unconsciously burying things that need the light of awareness to set them free and put them down. I already know the value of stopping from my own long term mindfulness practice, but somewhere along the way, life took over and the practices slowly disappeared.

So this is a reminder to anyone who hasn't stopped in a long time just to sit with themselves, please do it. It's amazing the weeds that grow in our mind garden when we don't pay attention to it.

Big love 💜✨

Not everything needs fixing 💜

Sometimes you don't need to be more productive, more positive, more resilient or better at coping.

Sometimes you're just tired.

Sometimes life has been a lot.

Sometimes your body needs comfort, quiet, care and a little less being asked of it.

We spend so much time trying to improve ourselves.

Maybe sometimes the kindest thing we can do is simply look after the person who's already here 🫂

A little reminder of what I actually do around here...💜

Because Unity Wellbeing has evolved a lot over the years.

At the heart of it all is Whole Person Healing: personalised, hands-on treatment that looks beyond the bit that hurts and considers you: your body, your nervous system, what life is asking of you, and what you need on that particular day.

But that's not all I offer ✨

I also provide surgical aftercare, including Manual Lymphatic Drainage and scar tissue management, as well as wellbeing workshops for private groups and workplaces.

Different services, but the same philosophy runs through all of them:

You're a whole person. And your wellbeing deserves to be treated that way.

If you're wondering whether something I offer might be right for you, just drop me a message. I'm always happy to chat. 💜

Your body is allowed to be tired even if you don’t think you’ve “done enough” to be tired 💜

Tiredness isn’t only about how many hours you’ve worked or how much exercise you’ve done.

Thinking. Planning. Parenting. Worrying. Making decisions. Being needed. Holding things together. Being switched on all day.

It all takes something from us.

So if your body is asking you to slow down, you don't need to earn the right to listen to it. 🌿

Sometimes caring for ourselves starts with simply noticing:

“Actually… I’m bloody tired.”

And responding accordingly.

(I'm an enormous fan of a nana nap 😉)
