A memory tattoo doesn’t have to be a date.
Sometimes it’s the tiny things that hold the biggest memories.
A paw print.
A fingerprint.
Their birth flower.
A flower that will always remind you of them.
A little object that only you would recognise.
A place that only the two of you knew.
An outline sketch.
Their handwriting.
A symbol that looks ordinary to everyone else, but means everything to you.
Because the most meaningful memorial tattoos aren’t always obvious.
No one has to know who your tattoo is for.
No one has to know the story behind it.
It can simply be something special that you carry with you, quietly and forever.
And that’s the beauty of a memory tattoo.
It’s yours.
Your memory.
Your person.
Your story.
I’m Emma, a fine line tattoo artist, nurse and trauma-informed professional. I create deeply personal, dedicated tattoos for people who want to keep someone they love close in a way that feels meaningful to them.
And I know what it’s like to grieve too. 🤍
If you’re thinking about a memorial tattoo but don’t want something obvious, save this carousel for when you’re ready. There are so many beautiful ways to turn a memory into something you can carry with you.
What would you choose to represent someone you love? 🤍

I need you to know this about me. 🤍
I’m a nurse, and one of the biggest things nursing has taught me is to always work within my competence.
That doesn’t stop when I pick up a tattoo machine.
Whether I’m doing a fine-line tattoo or an ar**la medical restoration, my approach is always the same: safety first. Always.
My whole nursing career has been built around patient safety, advocacy, risk assessment, infection prevention, recognising when something isn’t right and knowing when something is outside of my scope.
And I carry every bit of that into my tattooing.
I will never do something just because I can charge for it. I will never put making money above your safety. And I will never be offended if you tell me something doesn’t feel right.
Actually, I want you to tell me.
If you’re uncomfortable, worried, unsure, in pain, or simply have a gut feeling that something isn’t right ,I want you to feel safe enough to say it. 🤍
Because you’re not just paying me for a tattoo.
You’re trusting me with your body.
And that’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly.
Safety will always come before money. Every single time. 🫶🏼

This month brought some amazing news. ❤️
After years of campaigning, waiting and fighting for change, Enhertu (trastuzumab deruxtecan) is now available on the NHS in England for eligible people living with HER2-low secondary (metastatic) breast cancer.
And it got me thinking about access.
Because where you live can affect your experience of cancer care. It can affect what you’re offered, what’s available locally, how far you have to travel, and sometimes even what you can afford.
As a nurse and a tattoo artist, there is one tiny part of that picture that I can control.
I create realistic 3D ar**la and ni**le tattoos for people who have lost their breasts through mastectomy and I do them completely free of charge.
And that’s not because I think it’s “just a tattoo”. Quite the opposite.
I know that an ar**la tattoo can be so much more than cosmetic. For some people, it can be the final part of an incredibly long journey through diagnosis, appointments, treatment, surgery and recovery.
I’ve seen the difference it can make.
Something so small can change the way someone looks in the mirror. The way they get dressed. The way they feel in their body. Being intimate with a partner. Feeling like they’re taking a little piece of themselves back after breast cancer.
So my service will never be a postcode lottery.
I don’t care which NHS Trust you were treated by.
I don’t care if you went private.
I don’t care where you live or what country you’re travelling from.
And I don’t care whether your mastectomy was because of breast cancer or to reduce your risk of developing it.
If this is something you need, my door is always open. ❤️
And I don’t want your bank balance to decide whether you get to feel finished either.
After everything you’ve already been through, I don’t want the final hurdle to be:
“Can I afford to feel whole again?”
That’s why my breast cancer tattoos will always be free.
And that’s why my fine line tattoo business means so much to me.
Every beautiful little tattoo that somebody chooses to book with me… means I can keep doing this ✨ **latattoo **latattooing

Grief is one of those things you never really understand until you’ve lived it. 🤍
And I think one of the biggest things it has changed for me is the way I show up for other people.
As a nurse, a medical tattooist and a business owner, I spend a lot of time with people when they are vulnerable. Sometimes they’re grieving. Sometimes they’re anxious. Sometimes they’re sitting in front of me trying to process something that has completely changed their life.
And I’ve realised I don’t always need to have the right words.
I don’t need to make it better.
I don’t need to fill every silence.
I don’t need to understand exactly how someone feels.
Sometimes I just need to be there.
Grief has taught me to listen differently. To notice the little things. To give people more control. To understand that someone can look completely fine and still be carrying something incredibly heavy.
It’s made me more patient. More compassionate. More aware of trauma. And probably much less frightened of difficult conversations.
I wouldn’t ever say I’m grateful for the pain of grief. I would give anything not to have had some of the experiences that taught me these lessons.
But I am grateful for the person they’ve helped me become.
Because every person who sits in my chair brings their own story with them.
And I never want anyone to feel like they have to hide the difficult bits from me. 🤍
Maybe grief doesn’t make us stronger in the way people think it does. Maybe it just teaches us how to hold other people’s pain a little more gently. 🫶🏻

If you’ve been following me for a while, or you’ve seen me recently, you’ll probably know I’ve not been in the best place mentally lately. 🤍
And honestly, one of the things I’ve been trying to do to pull myself back up is to focus on what I do have.
Gratitude. The really simple stuff. The things that are so normal to us that we barely even notice them anymore.
Waking up. Hearing someone you love’s voice. Your body getting you through the day. Your dog going bloody mental when you walk through the door 😂. Having a safe place to sleep. Friends you can call for absolutely no reason. A slow morning. A cup of coffee. The people you love still being here.
None of it feels particularly extraordinary when you’re living it… but it bloody well is.
So I made this post as much for myself as anyone else. A little reminder to stop looking at everything that’s missing and actually notice everything that’s already here.
Because sometimes you don’t need to change your whole life.
Sometimes you just need to remember how much of it is already worth being grateful for. 🤍✨
