Menopause & Migraines

During menopause, changing hormone levels directly affect the brain areas involved in migraines. Estrogen normally helps keep brain activity stable. As estrogen fluctuates during perimenopause and then declines after menopause, the brain becomes more sensitive to migraine triggers.

How menopause affects the migraine brain:

• Hypothalamus: Hormonal fluctuations make this area unstable, triggering hot flushes, night sweats and lowering the threshold for migraines.

• Brainstem & Trigeminal Nerve: Falling estrogen removes the brain's natural "brake" on pain signals, making migraines easier to trigger.

• Thalamus: Reduced estrogen affects serotonin and endorphins, increasing sensitivity to pain, light and sound.

The Good News

Migraines often worsen during perimenopause due to fluctuating hormones. Once menopause is complete and hormone levels stabilise, many women experience fewer, less severe migraines—or they may stop altogether.

How Reflexology May Help

Reflexology cannot cure migraines or increase estrogen levels, but research suggests it may reduce the severity and duration of migraine attacks by calming the nervous system.
It may help by:

• Calming the hypothalamus and supporting relaxation.
• Stimulating the release of endorphins, the body's natural pain-relieving chemicals.
• Reducing cortisol and adrenaline, helping to calm the brainstem and trigeminal nerve.
• Improving circulation and reducing inflammation, which may ease the throbbing pain of headaches and migraines.

And dont forget you don't have to be menopausal to try reflexology for headaches & migraines.

So what's Repton Revive all about? And what makes me stand out from a very full industry?

Firstly I have years of experience, I originally qualified over 17years ago and I've continued to pick up more qualifications along the way.

I'm fully insured, located at two clinics which are hygienic, friendly and professional. I am also a full member Of the Association of Reflexologists, this means I am committed to practicing professionally and ethically.

Secondly, I'm just one person. A real person, I don't use AI to write our scripts and advertisements and generate mass amounts of information. My knowledge comes from my training and experience (and sure there maybe some typos along the way). This is because my job is to work with you, my client. Its about listening, understanding and providing a treatment. AI can't replace human connection.

Lastly, I'm result focused. Alot of my clients have long term conditions, are going through a stressful time period or life changing experience such as menopause. They want and they get relief from symptoms, we treatment plan and review where we are as needed. Clients also just need a place to be, no demands. A place to put down their burdens and breathe. I create that space.

If any of this resonate with you please do get in touch or have a look at the website www.reptonrevive.co.uk

What Is Reflexology?

If you’ve ever wondered what reflexology actually is, you’re not alone…
Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy based on the idea that specific points on the feet correspond to different areas of the body. By applying pressure to these points, we aim to support the body’s natural balance and encourage deep relaxation.

👣It’s not just a foot massage
👣It’s time dedicated entirely to you
👣It works holistically — supporting mind and body together

Many clients report feeling:
👣Deeply relaxed
👣More balanced
👣Better able to cope with stress

At Repton Revive, reflexology sessions are designed to be a calm, restorative experience, giving your body the opportunity to reset.
Curious to try it for yourself? Send me a message 💌 or Book online.
