We love popping into our local Community Toolbox! A great way to get the tools or equipment you need without over-consuming.
We don't need every household to have one of everything, we need communities where one of everything can be accessible to everyone!

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our special ScrapThursday session!
We had visits and activities from organisations across Dundee who support recovery from a range of issues. There was opportunity to chat, make keyrings, decorate tote bags, make journals and badges!
We were so impressed with how much empathy and open-mindedness there was on show as people discussed mental health, the recovery process and different social issues affecting communities across Dundee.
Thank you so much to all our partners for attending!

Nida from our New Scots team and Sandy our Director attended Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations Council New Scots Gather Event on the 16th of September.
The event brought together organisations from across Scotland to connect, share knowledge and collaborate. This years theme was Stories That Shape Change, exploring how storytelling can influence attitudes and systems.
Nida and Sandy hosted a workshop looking at how volunteers play a role in supporting integration for refugees and asylum seekers. They had a fantastic time and enjoyed a lot of interesting conversations.

OUR VISIT TO THE CRANNOG CENTRE
Recently, a group of New Scots from our THREADS project joined celebrations at the Rise and Shine Festival. THREADS connects New Scots with the rich heritage of Dundee and Scotland.
This journey took us through the green of Perthshire (sadly not sailing down the Tay!) to the The Scottish Crannog Centre, where we explored their incredible new Iron Age Crannog and discovered traditional skills, crafts, music and folklore.
Rise and Shine Festival takes place each year, bringing together groups from across Scotland to share and celebrate aspects of culture, race and religion through performance, poetry, food and crafts.
Some of our group settled by the fire to spend time weaving, while others were drawn to music and folklore in the Roundhouse. We left feeling totally energised, full of new experiences and deep appreciation for the cultures and stories shared with us.
A beautiful day of connection and community and a reminder that Scotland’s heritage is a living story, shaped by everyone who calls it home.
Many thanks to the Crannog Centre for hosting us and to DundeeLibraries for their support. We look forward to continuing our valued partnership.
