Hello, October. 🍂
New month. New season.
Same you… just a little wiser.
Keep going.
There’s still plenty of year left to surprise yourself.

⭐️ Amazing story!
And that isn’t just true in sport. It’s true in life.
Sometimes we find ourselves facing something we didn’t train for, didn’t plan for and certainly didn’t feel ready for.
We might not be the strongest person in the room. We might not know exactly what we’re doing. We might stumble over a few hurdles along the way.
But we show up anyway.
For ourselves.
For someone we love.
For the people who are counting on us.
Sometimes, showing up when it matters is the achievement. 🥰
It wasn’t her event. It wasn’t even close. But in a moment that captured hearts around the world, Jolien Boumkwo stepped far outside her comfort zone—and straight into the spotlight.
At the European Athletics Team Championships in Poland, Belgium’s team was suddenly in trouble. Injuries had wiped out their athletes for the women’s 100-metre hurdles, leaving the team on the brink of disqualification. In a competition where every event matters, not showing up wasn’t an option.
That’s when Boumkwo, a shot putter by trade, made a decision.
She would run it herself.
There was no time for proper training, no expectation of a fast finish—just a determination to show up for her team. As the race began, the difference was obvious. While the other athletes sprinted and soared over the hurdles, Boumkwo approached each one carefully, taking it step by step. She wasn’t racing for a medal—she was racing to keep Belgium in the competition.
And she did exactly that.
Clearing every hurdle, she crossed the finish line to earn two crucial points for her team—just enough to keep them in the rankings. The time on the clock didn’t matter. What mattered was that she finished.
The crowd cheered. Her teammates celebrated. And soon, the internet took notice.
Clips of her run spread quickly, not as a highlight of athletic dominance, but as something arguably more powerful: pure sportsmanship. Viewers around the world saw an athlete willing to risk embarrassment, step into the unfamiliar, and give everything she had—not for personal glory, but for her team.
In a competition built on speed and precision, it was her courage and attitude that stood out most.
Because sometimes, the most unforgettable moments in sports aren’t about winning—they’re about showing up when it counts.

Same finish line.
Different journey. 🏃🏾♀️
We all crossed the same finish line, but none of us arrived there in quite the same way.
Different pace.
Different challenges.
Different reasons for being there.
Some raced. Some took their time. Some were chasing a PB.
Some were simply determined to finish.
I think life is a bit like that.
At times, we spend far too much time looking sideways, comparing our pace with somebody else’s, when their journey was never the same as ours.
Sometimes you have to slow down. Sometimes you have to recover. Sometimes the greatest achievement isn’t being the fastest, it’s having the courage to start or start again and keep moving forward.
Your pace doesn’t diminish your achievement.
Find your rhythm. Trust your journey. Surround yourself with people who cheer you on.
And get to your finish line, your way. ⭐️🏃🏽♀️
Same finish line. Different journeys. Every one of them counts. 🙌🏾
🇫🇷5k DONE! 🏃🏽♀️🏅 35 mins!
After 5 weeks nursing an injury and not running, just getting to that start line felt like an achievement.
And what a start line… being part of a crowd of 4,000 runners was incredible. The atmosphere, the energy, the nerves… what a buzz! 🙌🏾
I had one goal: take it slowly, pace myself, listen to my body and do it my way.
And I did.
5k without stopping, without walking and best of all, without pain. 🤞🏾 Crossing that finish line felt AMAZING.
Having my 🇫🇷 family there supporting me at the start and waiting for me at the finish made it even more special. 🥰
Sometimes determination isn’t about pushing harder.
It’s about being patient, having the right people around you, slowing down when you need to, trusting yourself and keeping going at your own pace.
Your pace. Your journey. Your finish line.
And sometimes… you surprise yourself. ❤️🏃🏽♀️🙌🏾✨

Managed a 2km gentle jog on Sunday… no hamstring pain🤞🏽
It was so… mind-liberating 😅
🏃🏾♀️5 weeks since my last 5km… I’ll attempt one on Saturday… wish me luck🥴🤞🏽🙌🏾
Sometimes running doesn’t fix your problems… but it does give you a little break from them.🏃 😂
Deadlines, work, bills, responsibilities, plans that aren’t going to plan — life can feel like one big explosion happening in the background.
And then there’s you, peacefully heading out for a run like everything is completely under control.
For the next few miles, none of it matters. Just you, your shoes, your breathing, and the road ahead.
The problems will probably still be waiting when you get back… but at least you’ll come back with a clearer head, a better mood, and another run in the books.
Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

I do like this chart from Running State 🥰
I haven’t been able to run my weekly 5km for the last 3 weeks because of a hamstring injury and goodness, I can feel the difference! 😏
Running is so much more than exercise for me. 🏃🏾♀️
It’s my weekly reset… time with myself, my brain and my body. A chance to clear my head, reconnect and just run.
Hopefully, I’ll be back to my running soon…🤞🏽
Running isn’t for everyone but find your thing. ⭐️
Walking, crafting, driving to the beach, sitting somewhere peaceful with a coffee, dancing around the kitchen… whatever gives your mind a little space and brings you back to yourself.
Find your reset. 🥰
