A year ago, I would have coloured these white hairs immediately.

Not because I had to.
Because that’s what I’d always done.

As a hairdresser, I was taught how to cover white hair beautifully. And I still can.

But over the last year, something has shifted.

I’ve stopped trying to make every white hair disappear and blend them instead.

Some days I still notice them more than others. But most days, I don’t see “roots” anymore. I just see my hair.

That change in mindset has changed the way I colour my clients’ hair too.

A week away has given me a little time to reflect on the last 6 months.

They have been some of the most intense of my career. Hours of education, mentoring, testing, questioning, trying again and pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

Not because I had to.

Because my clients deserve someone who never stops learning.

I’m proud of how far I’ve come… but even more excited about where I’m heading.
