Microneedling for Stretch Marks and Scars

Microneedling can be performed on almost any area of the body to help improve the appearance of stretch marks and support smoother, healthier looking skin.

These photos show my little guinea pig, Jen’s tummy, before and after monthly microneedling treatments over approximately 10 months and I am absolutely obsessed with the results! 🤩

Microneedling works by creating hundreds of tiny micro-channels in the skin using fine needles. This controlled process stimulates the skin’s natural healing response, encouraging the production of fresh collagen and elastin.

Over time this can help improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of stretch marks, and leave the skin looking firmer and smoother.

Purple, red, or pink stretch marks or scars (known as striae rubrae) tend to respond better to microneedling because they are newer and still have an active blood supply. At this stage, the skin is still undergoing changes, and the body’s healing processes are more responsive to treatments that stimulate collagen production.

Older white or silver stretch marks or scars (striae albae) can still be treated with microneedling and may improve in texture and depth, but they typically require more sessions and the results are often less dramatic because the scar tissue is more mature.
