Some birthdays deserve something a little more special.
Not because of the number they’re celebrating, but because of the person.
When I was putting together our Luxury Happy Birthday Gift Box, I kept thinking about how lovely it is to receive a gift that encourages you to stop for a while and enjoy a little time to yourself.
That’s why you’ll find nourishing botanical skincare from our own Eva Carys Botanica collection, cosy Nordic socks, a silk eye mask, artisan tea and a few thoughtful treats to enjoy, all carefully wrapped and ready to open.
As always, every gift box is packed by hand here at St Helena Cottage and includes a handwritten birthday message, a pine cone scented with one of our own essential oil blends and, while it’s in season, a sprig of lavender picked from the garden.
I hope that when someone opens one of our gift boxes, they don’t just see the products inside. I hope they feel celebrated, appreciated and thoroughly spoiled.
Because birthdays come and go, but a thoughtful gift is something people often remember for years.

People often ask if Hygge at Home is a big company.
The truth is...
It's just me packing your orders, making candles and skincare, handwriting your gift messages, growing lavender in the garden to put in your boxes and trying to remember where I put my cup of tea.
😂
(Must mention hubby and kids too who often get dragged into the workshop to help!)

Yesterday morning I spent a little while in the garden cutting lavender.
Most of it will be hung up to dry ready to use in future Eva Carys Botanica products, but I always keep a few fresh sprigs back to include in our gift boxes while it's in flower.
It made me realise that so much of what makes a gift feel special isn't actually the gift itself.
It's the handwritten message tucked inside.
The pine cone scented with one of our own essential oil blends.
The fresh lavender from the garden.
The fact that every box is wrapped by hand here at St Helena Cottage.
They're all such small details, and none of them are essential. But together, they're what turn a box of lovely products into something that feels personal.
I wrote a blog about this over the weekend because it's something I've been thinking about a lot recently. It's called 'Why the Little Details Matter', and it's all about why those finishing touches matter so much to me and to Hygge at Home.
If you've got five minutes and a cup of tea, I'd love you to have a read.

Having just moved house ourselves, creating our New Home Gift Box feels even more special.
Over the past few weeks, we've experienced all those little moments that come with moving. The excitement of getting the keys, the endless boxes, trying to remember which box you put the mugs in, and that first evening when you finally stop, put the kettle on and realise... this is home.
It reminded me why I created this gift box in the first place.
Every item has been chosen to help create a sense of calm and comfort in a new, unfamiliar space.
🕯️ An Eva Carys Botanica aromatherapy candle, hand-poured here at St Helena Cottage using pure essential oils.
🌿 A mini succulent, grown here at the cottage, to bring a little life to a new home.
☕ Locally roasted Lincolnshire artisan coffee for that well-earned first coffee break.
🍫 Handcrafted artisan chocolate to enjoy while the boxes are still waiting to be unpacked.
💌 And, of course, a handwritten card with your own personal message.
Moving house isn't just about changing your address. It's about creating new memories, finding your routines again and making somewhere unfamiliar feel like home.
If you know someone who's just moved, I hope this gift box helps them take a moment to pause, put the kettle on and enjoy the start of their next chapter.

Every Hygge at Home gift box starts with one simple question...
How do we want the recipient to feel when they open it?
It's never just about choosing beautiful products.
It's about creating an experience.
Many of the products inside our gift boxes are handmade here at St Helena Cottage as part of our Eva Carys Botanica collection, alongside carefully chosen wellbeing treats from British brands we love.
Each gift is wrapped by hand with layers of tissue paper, finished with our signature ribbon, and tucked inside you'll find a pine cone gently scented with one of our signature essential oil blends. It's one of those little details that people often tell us they remember long after the gift has been opened.
At this time of year, I also love adding fresh lavender picked from the garden at the cottage. It's a simple touch, but one that makes every gift box feel even more personal.
Because I believe it's the little details that make someone stop for a moment, smile, and feel genuinely cared for.
That's what Hygge at Home has always been about. 🤍

This morning, I've published my first blog from St Helena Cottage.
It feels quite fitting really, because moving here has been one of the biggest changes for both me and the business since I started Hygge at Home nearly six years ago.
When people receive one of our gift boxes, they only ever see the finished result. They don't see where it's made, where ideas come from, or the little workshop where everything is packed by hand.
I wanted to change that.
The blog is a little look behind the scenes at why we moved, what St Helena Cottage means to us, and why this feels like such an exciting new chapter.
If you've ever wondered what goes on behind a small business like mine, I'd love you to have a read.

And if you've been supporting Hygge at Home over the years, thank you. It genuinely means more than you probably realise. 🤍
I never thought this day would arrive…
We’ve finally moved in to our new home and it feels so good, after 6 long and painful months of stress, worry and many many tears.
Here is a little look at the new Hygge at Home workshop coming together. There’s still lots to do, including flooring, plastering, painting and just generally adding lots of hygge elements (obviously!) but for now, we are unpacked and ready for all of your orders ❤️
Now for a cuppa ☕️

What does your ideal evening look like?
For me, it's simple.
A hot bath.
Fresh bedding.
A cup of tea.
A good book.
No notifications.
No rushing.
Just a little quiet before bed.
Our Perfect Night's Sleep Gift Box was created for exactly that feeling.
It's one of our bestselling gift boxes and has been sent as birthday gifts, get-well-soon gifts, thinking-of-you gifts and, quite often, as a treat from someone to themselves.
Because good sleep isn't a luxury.
It's one of the kindest things we can give ourselves.
Tell me below: what's one thing that helps you unwind at the end of the day? 🌙

A little update from behind the scenes...
If you've been following along for a while, you'll know we're currently waiting to move into our new home.
What we thought would happen months ago has taken rather longer than expected, but we're hopeful we're finally getting close.
In the meantime, business continues from our current workspace, gift boxes continue to head out the door, and I'm spending a lot of time dreaming about what Hygge at Home will look like in its next chapter.
There are plans for a dedicated workshop space, new opportunities to connect with customers, and plenty more cosy moments to share.
For now, though, I'm trying to embrace the in-between season.
The bit where things aren't quite finished.
The bit where progress feels slower than you'd like.
The bit where you're learning to trust that things are still moving forward.
If you're waiting on something important right now, you're not alone. 🌿

When I created our Intro to Hygge Gift Box, I wanted it to feel like a warm hug in a box.
The kind of gift you send when you don't quite know what someone needs, but you know they deserve a little comfort, kindness and time for themselves.
Over the last few months, I've been looking back at our orders and was genuinely surprised to discover that this has become one of our most-loved gift boxes.
I think that's because so many of us are craving the same thing right now: a chance to slow down.
A cosy evening.
A favourite drink.
A flickering candle.
A moment to breathe.
Sometimes the simplest gifts are the most meaningful.
If you've ever received a gift that arrived at exactly the right moment, I'd love to hear about it below. 🌿
