Today is National Hydration Day!

Hydration and healthy skin are about more than simply drinking more water.
Yes, staying hydrated is important for your overall health, but if your skin barrier isn’t functioning properly, your skin can still feel dry, tight, sensitive, or dehydrated.

Think of your skin barrier as your skin’s protective shield. When it’s healthy, it helps lock in moisture and keeps irritants out. When it’s compromised, water escapes more easily, leaving your skin struggling to maintain hydration.

Supporting your skin means looking beyond your water intake. It means:
-Using products that strengthen and protect the skin barrier.
-Choosing ingredients that attract and retain moisture.
-Avoiding over-exfoliation and harsh skincare routines.
-Nourishing your skin from both the inside and the outside.

Healthy, hydrated skin isn’t achieved through one habit alone. It’s the result of consistent care, the right skincare, and a healthy skin barrier.

If your skin always feels dry, no matter how much water you drink, it may not be lacking hydration—it may be asking for barrier support.

Drop me a message if you would like anymore information about hydration and a healthy barrier🫶

Today is the Summer Solstice—a reminder that even on the longest, busiest days, you deserve a few moments just for you.

If you’re juggling work, school runs, meetings, packed lunches, laundry, and everything in between, it’s easy to put yourself at the bottom of the list. But self-care doesn’t have to mean hours at a spa.

Sometimes it’s just 10 minutes to cleanse your skin, apply a nourishing moisturiser, and take a deep breath before the day begins—or after everyone else has gone to bed.

Healthy, glowing skin isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating small, consistent rituals that help you feel
refreshed, confident, and cared for.

Take care of yourself with the same love and attention you give everyone else.

If you’d like a simple skincare routine that fits around a busy life, I’d love to help you find products that work for your skin and your schedule🫶

Clients are always saying to me they are too tired to do a night time routine.

A top tip I always give them:-

Do your night time skin routine when you put your pjs on, before you sit down to watch the tv. Don’t leave it until you are on your way to bed as you will be too tired and not do it properly.

Remember consistency is key and although we can’t always be perfect we can take positive steps as and when we can! 🫶

Think oily skin doesn’t need moisturiser? Think again.

One of the biggest skincare myths is that oily or acne-prone skin should be stripped of moisture to control breakouts.

In reality, over-cleansing, harsh exfoliants and skipping moisturiser can leave your skin dehydrated and irritated.

When your skin barrier is compromised, it can respond by producing even more oil, creating a frustrating cycle of shine, congestion and breakouts.

This is especially important for women experiencing hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause.

Many women are surprised to find themselves dealing with acne in their 40s and 50s, often alongside increased skin sensitivity and dryness.

The key isn’t to dry your skin out — it’s to support it.

Healthy, hydrated skin is better equipped to heal, defend itself and maintain balance 🫶

One whole year since I opened my new treatment room at The Treatment Rooms Low Fell — where has that year gone?

This past year has been truly transformational for my business, giving me the opportunity to follow my passion and focus on what I love most: creating bespoke skin transformations tailored to each individual client.

I’m incredibly excited to see what the next year brings!

A heartfelt thank you to all of my wonderful clients for your continued support and trust. I look forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces through the doors over the next 12 months and for many years to come.

Also a special thank you to Chris who is co owner of The Treatment Rooms. Always has an ear to listen to my crazy ideas … love our business lunches 🫶 Body and Sole Therapy

If you’re doing everything you can to clear your acne but still aren’t seeing results, your routine may be contributing to the problem.

Here are some common mistakes:

-Over-cleansing: Washing your face too frequently or using products that strip the oil can damage your skin barrier, leading to irritation and increased oil production.

-Using too many active ingredients: Layering products containing salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, and exfoliating acids can overwhelm your skin and cause inflammation.

-Switching products too often: Most acne treatments take several weeks to show noticeable results. Constantly changing products makes it difficult to determine what is actually helping.

-Skipping moisturiser: Acne-prone skin still needs hydration. A compromised skin barrier can worsen irritation and breakouts.

-Over-treating blemishes: Applying more product or treating spots too aggressively can increase redness, dryness, and sensitivity.

When it comes to acne, more isn’t always better. A simple, consistent routine that supports your skin barrier is often more effective than an aggressive approach.
