My lovely client Erin is starting a new brow journey after previously trying microblading and finding it wasn’t the best match for her skin type. For this session, we’ve chosen a soft powder brow technique, gently layering pigment into the skin to create a beautifully subtle, dusty effect that will heal naturally and complement her features.
Colour choice is just as important as technique. We’ve used a dark brown pigment, I’ve carefully diluted it to ensure it doesn’t heal too cool in Erin’s skin. Every skin tone and skin type behaves differently, and Erin would never suit anything too strong or heavy sitting in her skin. The goal is always soft, natural looking brows that enhance rather than overpower.
I’m being extra cautious during this first session and will be monitoring how the pigment heals before making any adjustments to colour or technique at her perfecting appointment. This personalised approach helps achieve the best possible healed result and ensures the brows remain flattering and natural.
If you look closely at the zoomed-in photo, you can actually see how softly the pigment has been layered into the skin. It’s these tiny details that make all the difference when creating natural PMU brows.

Ever seen a story where someone ended up with a brow shape they weren’t happy with… and it’s permanent? 😬
Let me tell you where it can all go wrong
After taking the time to map out the perfect brows, the real skill is making sure that shape actually transfers onto the skin exactly as planned
Sounds simple… it’s not
I tattoo a super soft outline of my template first (if you’ve not seen the smudge proof Sharpie I use, scroll back 👀)
That outline has to be soft enough to adjust but strong enough to see
Too heavy and you’re locked in which can lead to heavier looking brows
Too light and you risk losing your template halfway through which is honestly one of the most stressful things as an artist 😅
That’s when mistakes happen and you start seeing brows that don’t quite match at the end
This part alone took me years to perfect
Because once I know my template is in properly it’s just a case of softly building and blending
No rushing, no guessing, just precision 🤍
That’s why I’ll never rush the mapping stage because it really is everything
