From vision to reality, this is how my Project Afro HairCon look came to life!

Backstage was a whirlwind of creativity, teamwork, and passion, from sketching inspiration to crocheting the final strands.

Every step was storytelling through hair artistry and this bold, sculptural look was the result!

Massive love to my Project Afro team and mentor!

Special thanks to my creative mentor Stephen , my amazing makeup artist for bringing this look to life and my incredible model , and every team member cheering me on.

This was a shared vision and we brought it to life together.

What part of the creative process fascinates you most? Let me know! 👇🏽

HairCon 2026: What Inspired Me

This weekend reminded me why I love this industry so much.

Hair is not just hair.

It is art.

It is culture.

It is confidence.

It is education.

It is creativity in motion.

From the stage shows, to the conversations, to the live demonstrations and the incredible artists I met, HairCon stretched my mind in the best way.

As a braider, educator and creative hair artist, I left feeling inspired, challenged and reminded that there is always more to learn, more to create and more ways to tell stories through hair.

I also loved seeing how much space there was for different textures, techniques, backgrounds and visions.

That matters.
Representation matters.
Creativity matters.
And continuing to grow as an artist matters.

This is a little glimpse of HairCon through my eyes.

The next post will be about the look I created for Project Afro and trust me, that one deserves its own moment.

Which slide inspires you the most?

Becoming Playful 💗

She stopped hiding the parts of herself that felt too soft, too expressive, too feminine, too much and started letting joy take up space.

This look is about softness, playfulness and unapologetic self-expression.

The pink ribbons represent the parts of ourselves we sometimes tone down to be taken seriously; the colour, the joy, the sweetness, the freedom, the girlhood, the softness.

But becoming asks something different of us.

It asks us to express.

To soften without shrinking.

To let joy be visible.

To take up space in colour, in beauty, in confidence, and in truth.

For me, this look is a reminder that power does not always have to look hard.

Sometimes power is playful.

Sometimes it is soft.

Sometimes it is choosing to be seen exactly as you are, without editing yourself to make others comfortable.

Swipe through and tell me, what part of yourself are you ready to express out loud?

🔥 I am becoming 🔥

POV: You’re trying to balance work, life, motherhood, business, appointments, school runs, self-care… and still look put together.

Honestly? Sometimes the answer is: I don’t. I’m just very, very tired all the time 😂

And this is exactly why low-maintenance protective styles will always make sense to me.

Because when life is already full, your hair should not be another thing draining your time, energy or peace.

That’s why I love creating styles that are:

✔ comfortable

✔ long-lasting

✔ low-maintenance

✔ protective

✔ and still make you feel beautiful

So whether you’ve got a holiday, a busy season, work, motherhood or just LIFE happening…

your hair can still be one less thing to worry about.

Becoming Stellar ⭐️

She stopped dimming her light and started becoming the star of her own story.

This look is about visibility, confidence and allowing yourself to shine without apology.

The star-shaped hair represents the light we carry within us, the parts of ourselves we sometimes hide, soften or shrink to make others comfortable.

But becoming asks something different of us.

It asks us to be seen.

To take up space.

To trust our own light.

To become the version of ourselves we no longer feel the need to hide.

For me, this look is a reminder that you don’t have to wait for permission to shine. You already carry the light.

Swipe through and tell me, what part of yourself are you learning to stop dimming?

After 16 years, Amelia finally said YES to her first girls’ trip and she wanted her hair to feel as spectacular as the moment.

We created boho knotless braids with soft human hair curls, blending caramel, brown, and blonde highlights and let me tell you, she’s turning heads!

Because whether it’s a long-overdue getaway or just a fresh start, you deserve to feel incredible.

Becoming Unboxed ☑️

This look is about no longer fitting yourself into places, labels, or expectations that were never made for the fullness of who you are.

The square shapes represent the boxes we are often placed in; how we should look, how we should act, how much space we are allowed to take up.

But in this look, the boxes are no longer holding her.

They become art.

They become structure.

They become something she rises above.

For me, Becoming is about redefining the frame.

Not shrinking to fit in, but expanding into your own shape.

You are allowed to be seen differently.

You are allowed to take up space differently.

You are allowed to become outside the box.

Swipe through and tell me, what box are you ready to step out of?

I’m so excited to share that my episode on **The Dog Witch Podcast** is now live 🎙️

In this conversation, we spoke about holistic beauty, wellness and conscious self-care topics that feel so aligned with the way I now approach both life and business.

Because for me, beauty has never been just about how we look.

It’s about how we feel.

How we care for ourselves.

How we show up in the world.

And how we create space to feel confident, calm and connected to who we are.

As a braider, salon owner and educator, I see every day how deeply beauty and self-care are linked.

Sometimes it’s a hairstyle.

Sometimes it’s a conversation in the chair.

Sometimes it’s finally giving yourself permission to be looked after.

This episode was such a lovely opportunity to talk about beauty from a deeper, more intentional place.

Thank you so much Lisa for having me, it was such a joy to be part of this conversation.

Mia came in wanting a change for a wedding.

Something soft.
Something elegant.
Something effortless.

But more than that, she wanted to feel confident trusting someone with her hair and I do not take that lightly.

We went for knotless braids with soft boho curls using curly human hair, and the result was everything.

Lightweight.

Romantic.

Comfortable.

And perfect for showing up beautifully as a wedding guest.

Because the right protective style should never feel like a risk.

It should feel considered.

It should feel safe.

It should feel like you are being looked after properly.

And Mia was not disappointed!

If you’ve been wanting braids but you’re nervous about trusting someone with your hair, DM “BRAIDS” and let’s talk through the right style for you.

Would you try boho knotless braids for a special occasion?

Comment YES if you would.
