When choosing an aesthetics practitioner, qualifications and training matter.
Although serious complications from dermal fillers are uncommon, they can occur. One of the most serious is vascular occlusion, where filler blocks a blood vessel. If not recognised and treated promptly, it can lead to skin damage and, in rare cases, permanent tissue loss.
If a vascular occlusion is suspected, early assessment and treatment are essential. Hyaluronidase, a prescription-only medicine used to dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers, may be required as part of treatment. This medicine can only be prescribed by an appropriate healthcare professional.
Before having treatment, always ask:

✔️ Are they trained to recognise and manage complications?
✔️ Do they have access to emergency medications, including hyaluronidase where appropriate?
