I wanted to keep the hair soft, polished and modern, while still making sure it felt like her. Softly swept back, effortless texture, beautiful movement and just enough detail to make it feel bridal without being overdone.

Tonight I asked one of my regular lovely clients to come in and let me to practise hair up and curly blow dry skills free of charge 🤍

And honestly… I needed it.

My confidence has really taken a knock lately from constantly seeing these perfect hair pictures all over social media to the point iv really struggled. Hair that looks absolutely flawless, every curl in exactly the right place, not one flyaway and somehow not a single hair out of place. Wondering, questioning why mines isn’t. Am I not good enough.

Then you realise… a lot of these pictures are AI enhanced or completely AI generated. I get using it for some trend/laugh but actually editing your work is completely different.

Instagram will sometimes tell you when something has been created or altered with AI, but now people are putting music over their posts so then it doesn’t tell anyone which can make it much harder to tell what’s actually real.

when you’re a hairdresser looking at that every day, it can genuinely make you question your own work.

So tonight I reminded myself:

REAL HAIR ISN’T PERFECT.

Real hair has flyaways.
Real curls move.
Real hair-ups have little bits that aren’t identical.
And real hairdressers practise, learn and improve.

This is real hair, done by me, on a real client and I’m actually really proud of it. 🥹🤍

Maybe we need to stop comparing our real life work to someone else’s edited reality.

So I’m going to keep practising, keep posting the real stuff, and remind myself that perfect isn’t the goal progress is. ✨
