Here are the 6 stages I’ve identified through building my own beauty business — and the framework I’ve built Beyond the Brush around. 💄

You need to become excellent at your craft.

- What is your current skill level?
- Are you building expertise?
- Are you ready to charge more?
- Are you investing in your education?
- How do you make decisions for your business?

Define your niche.

Find what you’re good at, what you can become known for.

- Do you know how to identify your demand?
- Do you use client feedback as market research?
- Do you analyse competitors?
- Do you know how to turn your skill into an actual offer?
- Do you know how to identify a USP

Understand your audience.

- Are you confident in why your audience should choose you?
- Are you confident in who your audience is?
- Are you able to position yourself as an expert at your craft?

Stop randomly posting.

- Have you given your content a job?
- Is your content purposeful?
- Do you have a strategy?
- Do you cover content pillars?
- Do you know how to sell through social media?
- Do you know how to convert attraction?
- Are you able to create content for different goals?

Actively create your own opportunities rather than waiting for them to find you.

- Do you put yourself in rooms where the work you want exists?
- Do you reach out to the people you want to work with?
- Can you confidently say you’re being action-oriented?

Don’t throw the whole business or idea away.

Building a business involves a belief system.

Something isn’t working -

- Is it the offer?
- Is it the audience?
- Is it the positioning?
