Your treatment is only half the work… 👀

What you do afterwards can make or break your results.

Protect the barrier. Respect the healing process. Follow your aftercare. And please… STOP PICKING 😂🤎

☀️ HIGH UV DOESN’T MEAN SKINCARE HAS TO STOP 🛑 BUT IT DOES MEAN WE HAVE TO ADAPT❗️

With UV levels remaining high this week, Skin&Self has seen heightened consideration, careful treatment selection and enhanced aftercare guidance.

Good skin practice isn’t about stopping everything for summer, but about understanding the skin, respecting UV exposure, treating responsibly and rescheduling / adapting high-intensity treatments where necessary.

SWIPE❗️Not every review provides the reassurance we hope for, but every submission gives us the opportunity for timely review and, where necessary, prompt action. 🤎

Following feedback received through Map My Mole, an urgent NHS dermatology appointment was arranged. A biopsy was undertaken and, fortunately, the results came back benign. 🙌🏼

A reminder that not every lesion will be harmless and early assessment matters.

Vigilance is essential. Early action can make all the difference. 🔎

Redness? Normal.
A bloodbath? Not the aim.

Why does skin go red during microneedling? 🔎✨

That post-treatment flush is actually a normal and expected response.

Microneedling creates thousands of tiny, controlled micro-channels in the skin. This triggers your body’s natural wound-healing response, increasing blood flow to the area and kickstarting collagen + elastin production 🙌🏼

So yes… some redness is a good sign. It tells us the skin is responding and repair mode has been activated ✔️

And the old school idea that microneedling should leave skin as a bloody mess? Thankfully, we’ve moved on.

Excessive bleeding and trauma often suggest the skin has been overworked, creating unnecessary inflammation, longer downtime and potentially compromising barrier recovery.

Controlled stimulation > uncontrolled trauma 💉✨

Why does your skin peel after Bio Spicule Therapy? ✨🌶️

That post-treatment “skin shedding” isn’t something to fear, it’s actually a sign that your skin is renewing itself.

Bio Spicules create thousands of microscopic pathways in the skin, stimulating cell turnover and encouraging old, damaged skin cells to be replaced with fresh, healthy ones.

As the skin naturally sheds over the following days, you may notice:

✔️ Smoother skin texture
✔️ Brighter, more radiant complexion
✔️ Reduced appearance of pigmentation
✔️ Improved acne scarring and enlarged pores
✔️ Softer fine lines and wrinkles
✔️ Healthier overall skin quality

Think of it as your skin hitting the refresh button. While the peeling phase is temporary, the collagen stimulation and skin rejuvenation continue long after the visible shedding has finished.

Suspicions raised. Reassurance provided ✔️ SWIPE FOR RESULTS.

My client asked me to assess this lesion and, using both my personal experience and professional knowledge gained through SKCIN training, I recommended a referral to Map My Mole based on the following observations:

🔍 Irregular border
🔍 Uneven distribution of pigment

Within 24 hours, a full report was returned by a Consultant Dermatologist, providing welcomed reassurance along with professional advice.

Early assessment matters. Not every lesion is dangerous, but knowing when to seek further investigation is incredibly important.
