Not your average massage room πŸ‘€πŸŽβœ¨

There's something pretty special about transforming a black box theatre into a little sanctuary of calm.

From performances to peaceful moments, I love bringing massage into creative spaces. πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ

A little backstage magic, Yew Studio style 🌿

She's Been Shouting.

I wrote this for the woman I was, and for the women I worked alongside.

The women who kept showing up, holding everything together, raising concerns, asking for help and somehow finding the energy to smile at strangers on the way home.

The women who were told things would get better, while their bodies and minds were telling them they couldn't carry on.

Burnout doesn't always look like someone falling apart. Sometimes it looks like the most capable person in the room, quietly running on empty.

This is about the exhaustion of not being heard. The invisible labour. The relentless responsibility. The slow disappearance of yourself while trying to keep everything else afloat.

It's a difficult piece to share, but I know this experience isn't mine alone.

For every woman who has shouted until she's lost her voice. I hope you're finally being heard. ❀️

Healing from burnout is a funny old thing. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

A few months ago, I walked away from a job that had completely drained me. And since then, I've been slowly rebuilding a life that feels much more like me.

I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunities coming my way. The DJing, massage, events, creative projects and all the wonderful people I'm meeting along the way.

But I'm realising that leaving a toxic work environment doesn't mean you automatically leave behind the habits it created.

The constant need to be productive. The struggle to switch off. The guilt when you're resting. And now, the guilt that I'm not making enough time for the friends and people I love.

It's a strange balance between being excited about everything I'm building and remembering that I didn't leave burnout behind just to create a different version of it.

I'm learning that rest, friendships and simply enjoying life are just as important as the work.

Turns out healing isn't linear, and unlearning is a whole journey in itself.

Anyone else figuring this out as they go? 🌱

✨ EASTBOURNE, I'M BACK! ✨

After a little summer break, my Sunday massage pop-up is returning to Eastbourne! 🌿

And I've got just 3 appointments left for this Sunday 25th October! πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ

While these pop-ups are especially designed with burnt-out creatives in mind (because I know that feeling all too well!), you absolutely don't have to be a creative to book in.

Whether you're:

🌿 Feeling stressed, overwhelmed or burnt out

🌿 Living with chronic pain or persistent muscle tension

🌿 Navigating anxiety, depression or emotional exhaustion

🌿 Recovering from an injury or managing ongoing aches and pains

🌿 Or simply craving an hour that's entirely about YOU

You're welcome on my massage table. πŸ’š

I offer personalised deep tissue massage using the Jing Method, combining a thoughtful, compassionate approach with techniques tailored to your body and what you need.

πŸ“ Eastbourne πŸ“… Sunday 25th October ⏰ Just 3 appointments remaining!

Drop me a DM to book your spot or ask any questions. I'd love to see you there! 🌱

I quit my full-time job to have a better work-life balance and somehow ended up with approximately 47 different jobs. πŸ˜‚

One minute I'm managing a conference, the next I'm massaging someone's shoulders, and then I'm behind the decks presenting my radio show on 1BTN.

Welcome to the wonderfully chaotic world of freelance life.

Would I change it? Not right now. There's something pretty special about getting to do so many different things I love.

Now if I could just figure out how to squeeze in a few more days off... πŸ™ƒ

Anyone else living that portfolio career life?

The first corner of my new flat to be properly set up. Priorities! πŸͺ©πŸŽΆ

Still plenty of unpacking to do, furniture to find and things to sort, but my little music studio is up and running!

Spending this evening prepping for Tuesday's UFFTE Presents on 1BTN Radio. Discovering new tracks, playing around with mixes and getting completely lost in the music.

I bloody love DJing. ❀️

And it feels so lovely to have a little creative corner of my own again.

New home, new studio, lots more music to come. 🎧

Tune in Tuesday, 4–6pm on 1BTN! πŸ“»

12 months of newsletters! πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ

Which got me thinking about just how much has changed in a year.

I'm writing this from my new home in Hove, slowly finding my feet, making it cosy and getting used to having the city on my doorstep again.

I'm surrounded by some really inspiring women at the moment. Creative, kind, ambitious women who are doing brilliant things and reminding me how lovely it is to have people around you who encourage you to grow.

And work? Well, it's a bit of everything really πŸ˜‚

Events at Brighton Dome, massage clients, learning, DJing, radio, a bit of writing and whatever else I seem to have said yes to that week.

It's not exactly a conventional career, but I'm really enjoying the variety. I love that I get to work with my hands, be creative, meet interesting people and be part of making things happen.

There are still plenty of unknowns. I'm still tired, still figuring out how to make it all sustainable, and my new home is very much a work in progress.

But I feel inspired. And excited. And increasingly like I'm building something that actually suits me.

A year ago, I don't think I could have imagined quite what this next chapter would look like.

Anyway, a little Friday reflection from me. And thank you to everyone who's been reading my newsletters over the last year. It means a lot. ❀️

🌿 ONE YEAR OF A MOMENT OF YEW! πŸŒ™

A whole year of monthly letters, little life updates, poetry, music, massage, movement and everything in between.

When I started this newsletter last October, I had no idea quite how much life was about to change.

Since then I've quit my job, taken the leap into freelancing, played festivals, started my own radio show, developed my massage practice, moved house (again!) and written my way through all the messy, beautiful bits along the way.

A Moment of Yew has become a little monthly diary of it all. A space to share what I'm learning, what I'm creating, what I'm listening to and the things that make life feel good.

Tomorrow's October edition is all about finding my feet in Brighton, being held by wonderful friends, learning to slow down and making a home for myself. Plus a new poem I've written as a little love letter to myself. πŸ’š

Fancy joining me for year two?

It's free, lands in your inbox once a month around the New Moon, and I'd love to have you along.

πŸ’Œ Drop me a DM with your email address or email [email protected] and I'll add you to the mailing list.

Thank you to everyone who's been reading, replying and following along this past year.

Here's to another year of figuring it all out together. 🌿
