YES! I AM OPEN DURING HALF TERM!! Funnily enough I had 3 messages in a row asking if Im still open during half term. The answer is YES! I absolutely adore my kids but Friday 29th is healing day as usual at HSS. After a week with the kids, Friday is YOU time. And from a selfish point of view, healing you heals me so Im looking forward to the reset it will bring for us all đŤ đ

ITS ALL ABOUT THE SUNSHINE!
Yep, thatâs right, the sun is out.
Now this can either fill us full of joy or dread.
We canât wait to soak up a bit of vitamin D -safely of course- but then thereâs that anxiety about putting our shorts on and getting our bodies out in public!
INTENSE PULSED LIGHT TREATMENT (IPL) can help give you the confidence you need.
With this treatment we can permanently reduce and remove unwanted face and body hair, treat broken thread veins on legs and knees and remove unsightly dark spots.
Think this might be something you need in your life?
Comment âLIGHTâ or pop us a DM and weâll get back to you. đŤ

âWhat if I canât justify spending this on myself?â
This one doesnât get enough airtime, but it should because itâs one I hear all too often.
Weâll spend money on our children. Our home. Holidays. Gifts.
Without hesitation. But when itâs our own face?
Suddenly we need a committee meeting đ¤Ł
We start mentally itemising what else that money could go towards. You downplay it.
âItâs not necessary.â âItâs indulgent.â âItâs a bit frivolous.â
And yet youâve been thinking about it for months. It bothers you often enough that itâs taking up space in your head.
The question isnât whether itâs essential. Very little beyond food and heating is really essential isnât it.
The question is whether it would quietly improve how you feel day to day.
If it would, that has value. Spending money on yourself doesnât make you selfish.
It makes you included. Youâre allowed to be on your own list (that VERY long list!)
Not at the bottom of it
If it makes you happy, surely itâs worth it đ

Letâs talk about what hydrated skin actually looks like.
Because I think people have got very confused about what hydrated skin actually is. Somewhere along the line, âhydratedâ became this glossy, glass-like finish where you look permanently reflective.
That isnât hydration.
Thatâs usually a combination of oil, highlighter, and good lighting or a skin thatâs had the top (protective) layer removed to give it that shine.
Hydrated skin is much more normal than that.
Hydrated skin looks calm and comfortable.
It looks like your face isnât screaming quietly under your makeup.
Proper hydration isnât about looking shiny, Itâs about a skin thatâs functioning well.
And the biggest sign of hydrated skin is not glow â itâs balance. No tightness after cleansing. No flaky patches that appear halfway through the day. No feeling like your face is about to crack when the heatingâs on.
Hydrated skin is soft, smooth and has a bit of bounce to it.
A lot of women think they have âdry skinâ when actually their skin is dehydrated.
So whatâs the difference between dry and dehydrated skin
đ§ Dry skin is a skin type.
đ§ Dehydrated skin is a condition â and it can happen to anyone, even to oily skin.
Especially midlife skin as hormones change everything. Suddenly your skin is doing things you didnât ask for.
You start reacting to products, your skin feels dull, your makeup doesnât sit well.
So you think you need something harsh or exfoliatingâŚ
When actually, your skin is just thirsty.
I always say that dry skin is the symptom NOT the cause of the problem.
Hydrated skin also isnât perfect.
It still has pores, texture and expression lines AND it still looks like skin, really skin. Not shiny plastic.
And thatâs something I wish more women understood.
Hydration isnât about erasing every sign of being alive, itâs about your skin looking rested and healthy. Like itâs being loved and cared for, not constantly attacked.Because many women are over-exfoliating, over-cleansing, using too many activesâŚ
And then wondering why their skin looks worse. You cannot bully your skin into glowing or simply scrape away the dryness.
You have to support it.
Show it some love â¤ď¸

Iâm often asked if home LED masks are worth having.
Well, thereâs many factors you should consider when looking into getting your own device and price certainty shouldnât be a deciding factor.
Our ONLY machine of choice at HSS is of course Dermalux and in their own words hereâs what the say about light therapyâŚ
âEffective phototherapy relies on precision.
⢠Clinically proven wavelengths.
⢠Narrow spectral accuracy.
⢠Optimised irradiance and dose.
Dermalux LED systems are engineered to deliver light at the correct wavelength and power density required to stimulate cellular response. This ensures energy is not just emitted, but biologically effective.
Dermalux devices are built around these principles, delivering clinically validated results.â
Youâll make your own choices as to whether or not to buy a home device but can they compare to in clinic treatments?
Absolutely not!

Myth one: âIf it stings, itâs working.â
No.
If it stings, your skin is irritated.
We need to stop romanticising discomfort in skincare.
Your face is not meant to feel like itâs being mildly chemical-burned into submission.
Healthy skin is calm, not inflamed, not tingling, not fighting for its life.
Myth two: âOily skin doesnât need moisturiser.â
Wrong.
Oily skin can still be dehydrated.
In fact, sometimes oily skin is oily because itâs dehydrated and overcompensating. Moisturising isnât optional!
Myth three: âThe more products, the better.â
Absolutely not.
Most people are doing too much.
Too many actives, too many steps, too much switching.
Your skin does not want a different routine every week because someone on Instagram discovered a new ingredient.
It wants consistency, skin thrives on boring.
Myth four: âYou can shrink your pores.â
You cannot.
Pores are pores.
Theyâre meant to be there.
You can make them look less obvious by keeping skin hydrated and clean, but you cannot erase them unless you plan on becoming a plastic doll.
And I donât recommend that đ
Myth five: âAgeing is something to fix.â
This one is the biggest.
Ageing is not a flaw, itâs something that happens to all of us and the most normal thing in the world weâve just been taught to treat it like an emergency.
Your skin will change, your face will change that doesnât mean something has gone wrong it means you have lived and youâre normal. The goal is not to look 25 forever, itâs to look healthy, rested, and like yourself.
Myth six: âExpensive skincare is automatically better.â
Not always. Some of the best products are affordable.
Some of the worst are expensive.
Marketing is powerful, price is not proof the product is any good.
So if youâve believed any of these myths â donât worry.
We all have.
Skincare is full of noise and nonsense!
The older I get, the more I believe in simplicity, consistency, and not treating your face like it needs correcting and Iâve never deviated in my choice of products for over 25 years!
