๐ŸŒฟ Ingredient Spotlight: SLSA ๐ŸŒฟ

One of the ingredients I use when preparing my Cleansing White Kaolin Clay Mask is SLSA (Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate).

Your mask is mixed fresh on the day of your holistic facial with kaolin clay, colloidal oatmeal and aloe vera juice, creating a beautiful, freshly prepared introduction to your treatment ๐Ÿค

So, what does SLSA actually do?

SLSA is a naturally derived cleansing surfactant, made from plant-derived fatty acids. I use it to give the clay mask a soft, creamy lather while helping to lift away dirt, excess oils and impurities from the skin.

And despite the similar name, SLSA isn't the same ingredient as SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate). They have different chemical structures, and SLSA is generally considered a gentler cleansing option for the skin.

โœจ Why I use it:
โ€ข Helps gently cleanse the skin
โ€ข Creates a soft, creamy lather
โ€ข Helps lift away impurities and excess oils
โ€ข Works beautifully alongside white kaolin clay
โ€ข Gives the mask a lovely cleansing texture without making it feel harsh

I believe in choosing ingredients thoughtfully, while choosing a treatment that feels beautiful, nurturing and effective for your skin ๐ŸŒฑ

โœจ How often should you have a holistic facial? โœจ

If you love how you feel after a holistic facial, you might be wondering how often you should actually have one.

For most people, every 4 to 6 weeks is a lovely rhythm, with around 6 weeks being a great guide. ๐Ÿค

Your skin is continually going through its natural renewal cycle, so regular treatments can help you maintain that fresh, healthy glow, while giving you something just as important...

Time to properly stop. ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

A holistic facial isn't just about your skin. It's an opportunity to switch off, slow down, release tension and give your nervous system a chance to move out of that constant "doing" mode.

From the calming environment and soothing touch, to the facial massage and warm candle massage, every part of the treatment is designed to help you relax, while giving your skin the care and nourishment it deserves.

Think of it as a little reset every six weeks. โœจ

Your skin gets some love.
Your mind gets a break.
Your nervous system gets a chance to slow down.
And you get to leave feeling completely looked after.๐Ÿค

๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿงก

One of the things that makes my holistic facial a little different is the warm botanical candle massage.

But why a candle?

For me, it's about creating an experience that engages more than just the skin. The candle itself is a delightful blend of soy wax, shea butter, mango butter and golden jojoba oil. When warmed, it melts into a beautifully nourishing massage oil that feels warm, silky and comforting on the skin.

And because I make the candles myself, I get to carefully choose the botanical ingredients that go into them. My Equinox candle contains rose geranium, black pepper and sweet orange essential oils, which gently fill the room with their beautiful, uplifting aroma as the candle warms.

These oils also bring their own skin-loving qualities to the treatment. Rose geranium is traditionally valued for its soothing and balancing properties, while sweet orange is rich in naturally occurring antioxidants and is known for its bright, uplifting aroma. Black pepper adds a warm, grounding note to the blend and is traditionally used in massage for its warming sensation.

The warm oil allows me to massage slowly and intentionally through the hands, arms, chest and neck, creating a beautiful combination of warmth, nourishing oils, gentle touch and aromatherapy.

The scent, warmth and massage all work together to create a deeply calming sensory experience, helping you to slow down and settle into the treatment.

I love incorporating this into the facial because while your skin is being cared for, the rest of you gets a chance to relax too.

It's one of those little details that turns a facial into a ritual. ๐Ÿค
