Druids Cutting the Mistletoe on the Sixth Day of the Moon (c. 1900) was painted by the French history painter Paul Henri Motte (1846-1922).

It shows a Celtic tradition that took place around the winter solstice (the shortest day of the year). This moment, also known as Mean Geimhridh, was celebrated to mark the beginning of longer days (when light would win from dark).

An important celebration among the Celts was that of the Druids (a class of wise people held in high standing in their society). This painting depicts one of their traditions that took place on the sixth day of the moon, the first day of the Celtic month. It is called the Yule time All-Heal ritual.

It shows the Druid priest on the top left cutting the mistletoe with a golden sickle. This mysterious evergreen plant was sacred to the Druids, and it was usually found in ancient oaks, apple trees, and poplars. As the mistletoe was often suspended mid-way between heaven and earth, it was seen as a symbolic gateway to another world. A spray was given to every family to hang in their homes to intensify spells and prayers, to protect the inhabitants, and induce beautiful dreams. And, beneath it, a kiss of peace was exchanged (a tradition that some of us may still be familiar with).

📣 Unauthorised Absence is on the longlist for Best British Short Film at the British Independent Film Awards!! One of the BIGGEST stages for any film in the country.

For everyone who has shared their story, donated, spread the word, or simply kept cheering us on - thank you! This is a big moment to celebrate together.

What began with Jo’s own experience, and grew with the stories and support of so many families, brought to screen by some of our most talented filmmakers, is now being recognised on a serious level. We’re so proud of our extraordinary cast and crew, and so grateful to everyone who helped us make this film.

Our hope has always been that this film helps people feel and understand what happens behind closed doors when a child cannot attend school, and a family asking for support is met with blame and punishment. Every new audience and new platform is another chance for that story to be heard.

I feel like a broken record but the film is coming soon! We are pushing all the time to raise the profile of the film, get attention on this issue in the press, in parliament, and deliver screenings as soon as possible. Thank you for bearing with us - we're almost there! xx

Today's card pull: THE GOLDEN CHILDREN 🌞
Inner child. Tenderness. Innocence. Rare gifts.

Deck: The Starseed Oracle đŸȘ

Golden Children (Children of the Sun) are highly advanced, extremely intelligent souls who are incarnating increasingly on planet Earth. They have little or no personal karma and possess incredible gifts and intuitive abilities.

Golden Children are born with a very clear mission – many remember it from a young age and begin answering and sharing it early in life. Due to their unique intelligence, they may find themselves easily bored at school. Most have never incarnated on Earth before and so, if they’re not supported in the right ways, they struggle with physical life here. They’re often referred to as the ‘new humans.’

If you pull this card it may be a sign that you’re being called to mother, father, or nurture a child. You may be called to tend to your own inner child, a creative idea or project, or a new beginning. To treat yourself or the new beginning with sweet, tender love. To nurture and nourish it. To give it every chance to grow and reach adulthood. To encourage it. To water it. To see the world through the innocence of a child. To see yourself and all others as innocent children. To remember that deep down, everyone is trying their best and if they’re treated with a tender heart, they’ll not harden as they journey through this great adventure called life.

STARSEED SOUL INQUIRY
How can you treat yourself (or others) more tenderly?

Have you ever been told you’re “I don’t think so. You don’t look autistic” when you tried to explain your autism?
Or “You’re just quirky”, “You’re maybe a bit eccentric”,
“Everyone is a little bit autistic”

The reality of autism is much deeper than that.
But most people only see what’s above the surface.

For me, being an autistic adult means managing sensory processing difficulties, executive dysfunction, emotional dysregulation and masking. Anxiety can add to those challenges too.

I created this Autism Tree to show the difference between what people assume and what they might miss.
Autism is a spectrum, so our experiences do vary. But you deserve to be heard when you explain yours.

If you’ve felt unseen, dismissed or misunderstood, I hope this helps you put some of that experience into words.

Keep being awesome âœŒđŸ»
