It was so lovely spending some time with them for their pre-wedding shoot, getting to know them a little more before the big day. Now there are only a couple of days to go and I get to spend the day with them capturing all those moments they’ll want to remember for years to come.

Before every newborn session, I hear the same worries.
"What if my baby won't settle?"
"What if they cry the whole time?"
"What if they need feeding every few minutes?"
"What if it's too warm?"
"What if I haven't slept?"
If you've found yourself asking any of these questions, you're not alone. Almost every new parent walks into my studio with at least one of these worries.
The good news is that every one of them is completely normal.
Newborn sessions are never rushed. We stop whenever your baby needs feeding, changing, cuddles or simply a little extra comfort. The studio is kept at a safe, cosy temperature for your baby's comfort, and there is plenty of time built into every session so we can work around them rather than expecting them to work around us.
You don't need to arrive with a baby who sleeps perfectly or follows a routine. You don't need to worry if you've only had a couple of hours of sleep yourself either.
Your only job is to bring your baby.
Everything else is taken care of.

Some first birthdays are all about being neat and gentle. Others are all about getting completely stuck into the cake.
Koban's jungle themed cake smash was definitely the second.
We started with some lovely milestone portraits before bringing out the cake. He was full of smiles, curious about every little detail and more than happy to make a proper mess once he realised it was all his. By the end of the session there was cake everywhere, a very well used wooden spoon and the biggest grin.
Of course, no cake smash is complete without a splash in the tub afterwards. It's always one of my favourite parts of the session, and judging by Koban's smile, I think it was one of his favourites too.

The biggest worry I hear before a family photoshoot usually isn't what to wear.
It's whether the children will actually cooperate.
Parents often tell me they're worried that someone won't smile, one of the children will refuse to join in, dad doesn't enjoy having his photo taken, or that everything will feel a bit chaotic.
The truth is, that's completely normal.
Children don't need to sit perfectly still or smile on command for beautiful photographs to happen. Some of my favourite images come from cuddles, giggles, little moments of mischief and everyone simply being together. Even the shy children usually find their confidence once they've had a chance to relax.
