Remedial, Sports and Swedish Massage Therapy

As sports people we all tend to push our bodies to the limit short-changing it on recovery and sleep in the quest of balancing work, life and sport. What is Sports Massage? Massage has been recognised for its benefits in the healing of mind, body and soul for centuries. Massage helps to relieve muscle tension and restore balance to the musculoskeletal system. This type of massage is applied at a deeper level into the tissues in order to stimulate the muscular and nervous system. Sports massage can be applied to your specific needs, whether preparing for and event or assisting recovery. BUT....

Sports massage is not just for athletes. Whether you are an office worker, a construction worker, retired or a soon-to-be mum, sports massage or deep tissue massage can be beneficial. The Benefits of Sports Massage

Regular sports massage or deep tissue massage is a great way to assist in avoiding developing injuries. Athletes who train regularly, find tension built up in the muscles which may then affect the joint mobility. Tension can cause excessive stress on ligaments, joints and tendons. Sports massage/ deep tissue massage can help maintain the body in a better condition, prevent injuries and loss of mobility, cure and restore mobility to injured muscle tissue, boost performance.

A wee reminder: your body deserves more than a crack and a guess! 👀😂

When booking treatment, check that your therapist has appropriate qualifications, hands-on training and insurance for what they’re offering. A polished Instagram page isn’t a qualification.

No qualifications on the wall? Ask what they hold! Not everyone displays their certificates, but they should be happy to show you their credentials. If they’re cagey about it, ask yourself why. 🚩

And please—an assessment should come before any manipulation, including HVT (high-velocity thrust). If someone’s ready to crack your neck before they’ve even checked how it moves, asked about your symptoms or taken your medical history… we’ve skipped a few fairly important steps! 😅

The big pitfall? It can all look impressive online: dramatic movements, gadgets, someone standing on a treatment table… but are we treating an injury or auditioning for Cirque du Soleil? 😂

Looking spectacular doesn’t prove a treatment is safe or effective. Big, theatrical movements aren’t a requirement for effective treatment, and a loud crack isn’t proof something has been “fixed”. Personally, I wouldn’t let anyone manipulate me without careful positioning, precision and control.

There’s no “same cracks for everyone” approach. Treatment should be tailored to you, explained clearly and carried out with your consent.

You should also leave understanding more than when you arrived. If you’ve had twenty minutes of medical mumbo jumbo and still don’t know what might be wrong or what the plan is, that’s not good enough. You booked an appointment, not a medical terminology quiz! 🤓

A definite diagnosis isn’t always possible straight away, but you deserve an honest explanation, clear next steps and a referral when needed.

And would you let someone near your teeth with a drill if their only training was online, with no supervised hands-on practice? Nah, me neither! 🦷😂 Online learning has its place, but practical treatments need practical training too.

Ask questions. Check credentials. You’re allowed to say no.

Your body deserves proper care—not just a good sound effect. 💙

✨ Please join us in welcoming Lisa to the clinic team! ✨

Lisa is joining us to offer Sports Massage and we’re so excited to have her on board.

She has recently spent time working closely with the local professional ice hockey team, the Fife Flyers, where she gained a wealth of knowledge and hands-on techniques under the guidance of our Boss Lady, Caitlyn.

Lisa also brings a wonderfully varied background, having worked as a dancer, dance teacher, and supporting children with additional support needs at a local high school.

Her diverse experience, passion for helping others, and understanding of movement and recovery make her a fantastic addition to the team.

📅 Lisa’s diary is now open, you can book appointments with here

To welcome her to clinic we’re offering a special introductory rate for all our clients!

Come along, say hello, and give Lisa a warm welcome to the clinic!

Super proud! This is all about teamwork to help clients achieve their goals 🤍🌸

I (Abby) had my last pre marathon session at The Recovery Lab Fife with Martin tonight. It's hard to put into words how incredible the last few weeks have been with his help... I'm feeling strong, confident and capable. Wouldn't be half as ready as I am without him.

There's more to this running thing than just running apparently ❤️ I will be forever grateful to this man for everything he has done for me, angels truly do walk amongst us, champion us, and cheer us on.

This finish line is now in no small measure thanks to Martin too 😊💗
