MYTH #9: “Hair extensions are out of my budget.”

We hear this more often than you might think.

Usually, the client has seen the price of one premium extension method and assumes that’s what all extensions cost.

It isn’t.

Nano Keratin is one of our most requested methods, and because of the precision and additional work involved in creating and applying such small bonds, it is also one of our premium options.

But Nano Keratin isn’t the only method we offer.

Depending on your natural hair, we may be able to recommend more budget-friendly systems such as Nano Rings, Micro Rings or Flat Tips / F-Tips.

You may also discover that you don’t need as much hair as you thought.

If your goal is simply more density, for example, you may need considerably fewer grams than someone looking for a complete length transformation.

That’s why we’d rather talk about your goal and budget during a consultation than have you decide that extensions aren’t affordable based on one price you’ve seen online.

There is one thing we won’t do:

We won’t choose an unsuitable method or overload your natural hair just to reach a certain price.

But where we have safe alternatives, we’ll explain them.

The most expensive method isn’t automatically the best one for you.

And the cheapest shouldn’t automatically be your choice either.

The right extensions sit somewhere between what your hair needs, what you want and what you’re comfortable investing.

Come for a consultation.

You might have more options than you think. 🤍

MYTH #8: “Hair extensions are only for people who want really long hair.”

When people hear “hair extensions”, they usually imagine one thing:

Very long hair.

But length is only one reason our clients wear extensions.

Some of our most natural transformations involve adding very little length at all.

We regularly use extensions to:

• add density to fine hair;
• fill thinner areas around the sides;
• create a fuller perimeter;
• add volume through the lengths;
• improve the appearance of a haircut that’s growing out;
• introduce colour without lightening the natural hair;
• balance areas where the natural hair is shorter or more fragile.

Sometimes 40–75g is enough to completely change how someone’s hair looks and feels without anyone realising extensions have been added.

You don’t have to become Rapunzel. 😄

You can keep your current length and simply have more of the hair you already wish you had.

That’s why our first question during a consultation isn’t:

“How long do you want it?”

It’s:

“What would you like to change about your hair?”

The answer determines everything that comes next.

MYTH #7: “Everyone will be able to tell I’m wearing extensions.”

Neither do we.

The best compliment you can give an extension specialist isn’t:

“Wow, those are beautiful extensions.”

It’s:

“Is that all her own hair?”

A natural result isn’t created simply by matching one colour and attaching extra hair.

We need to think about density, placement, bond size, distribution, colour matching and how the extensions blend through the natural lengths and ends.

Sometimes we use more than one shade to recreate the dimension already present in the client’s hair.

Sometimes we need different bond sizes in different areas.

And once the application is complete, the extensions need to integrate into the overall shape of the hair.

That’s what creates the difference between wearing extensions and having hair that simply looks naturally fuller and longer.

If the first thing people notice is the extensions, something isn’t right.

Our goal is for them to notice your hair.

Not how we created it.

MYTH #6: “A hair extension consultation is just a formality.”

Your extension appointment doesn’t really begin on fitting day.

It begins at your consultation.

Before we decide what we’re putting into your hair, we need to understand the hair that’s already there.

During an extension consultation, we assess:

• your natural hair density;
• the condition and strength of the hair;
• your scalp and attachment areas;
• your current length and haircut;
• your colour and the shades required for blending;
• the result you’re hoping to achieve;
• whether you want length, volume, colour or a combination;
• which attachment method is suitable;
• how many grams or pieces your hair can safely support;
• your maintenance expectations and budget.

Only after that can we build your extension plan.

Sometimes a client arrives convinced she needs 150g and we recommend 75g.

Sometimes she asks for Nano Keratin and another method makes more sense.

Sometimes she wants length when what would actually transform her hair is simply adding density.

And sometimes we have to say: not yet.

Because if your natural hair isn’t currently strong enough to support extensions safely, we’d rather help you improve its condition first.

A consultation isn’t an extra step before your extensions.

It’s the foundation of a good extension application.

MYTH #5: “Nano Keratin is the best method for everyone.”

Nano Keratin is currently one of our most requested extension methods.

It’s discreet, lightweight and highly customisable, and creating tiny Mini and Nano Keratin bonds is one of our main specialities at Leeds Style Concept.

So naturally, we love it.

But would we recommend it to every client?

No.

Because the “best” extension method is the one that’s best for your hair.

Depending on your natural hair, lifestyle, desired result and budget, we may recommend:

• Mini or Nano Keratin
• Classic Keratin
• Nano Rings
• Micro Rings
• Flat Tips / F-Tips
• another suitable system

And there is another important consideration: budget.

Nano Keratin involves considerably more detailed preparation and application, which makes it one of our higher-priced methods.

If your natural hair is suitable for another system and you’d prefer a more affordable option, we’ll tell you.

We’re not here to sell every client our most expensive method.

We’re here to find the method that makes sense for her.

Trends should never decide what goes on your head. Your hair should.

That’s what the consultation is for.

MYTH #4: “More grams = better extensions.”

More hair doesn’t automatically mean better hair.

This is something we talk about constantly during our extension consultations.

It’s very easy to focus on numbers:

100g.
150g.
200g.

But the number on the packet isn’t what determines whether your extensions will look beautiful.

Your natural hair determines how much weight we should apply.

If your hair is fine or fragile, adding excessive weight simply because you want “more volume” can place unnecessary tension on it.

Sometimes a carefully planned 70–80g application can create a far more natural result than overloading the head with 150g.

Other clients genuinely need more hair to achieve proper blending.

That’s why we calculate the amount individually.

We look at density, length, condition, desired result and how much weight the natural hair can safely support.

We don’t want to fit the maximum amount of hair possible.

We want to fit the right amount.

Because good extension work isn’t measured in grams.

It’s measured by how beautifully the extensions integrate with your natural hair.

MYTH #3: “Why can’t you just tell me the price?”

We understand why you ask.

You want to know how much your new hair is going to cost before deciding whether to book.

Completely reasonable.

The problem is that we can’t give you an accurate extension quote without knowing what your hair actually needs.

Price isn’t determined by length alone.

Two clients can both ask for 20-inch extensions and receive completely different quotations.

Why?

One may need 75g simply to add density.

Another may need 150g to create enough volume to blend naturally with her existing haircut.

One may be suitable for Nano Rings.

Another may need Mini Keratin.

One colour may be straightforward, while another requires several shades to create a seamless match.

We need to assess your natural density, condition, current length, colour, desired result, suitable attachment method and the amount of hair required.

Only then can we calculate the real price.

And we’d rather tell you:

“Your extensions will cost £X.”

than guess over the phone and give you a completely different bill at the end of your appointment.

That’s exactly why we recommend a consultation before booking extensions.

It’s not about making the process complicated.

It’s about giving you the correct recommendation and an honest price before we start.

MYTH #2: “My hair is too fine for extensions.”

Having fine hair doesn’t automatically mean you can’t wear hair extensions.

In fact, many of our clients choose extensions precisely because their natural hair is fine and they want more density.

But fine hair needs a different approach.

We can’t simply apply the same method, bond size and amount of hair we would use on someone with thick, strong natural hair.

We need to consider:

• the density of your natural hair;
• the strength of each section;
• the weight your hair can safely support;
• where the extensions should be positioned;
• how small and discreet the attachments need to be.

This is where methods such as Mini Keratin and Nano Keratin can be particularly useful, because the bonds can be customised to work with smaller sections of natural hair.

But even Nano Keratin isn’t automatically suitable for every fine-haired client.

Sometimes another method is safer. Sometimes we recommend fewer grams. And occasionally, if the natural hair is too compromised, our recommendation may be to wait.

That’s why we need to see your hair first.

Fine hair doesn’t necessarily need more extensions. It needs smarter extensions.

Start with a consultation and we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible for your hair.

MYTH #1: “Hair extensions will damage my natural hair.”
This is probably the biggest hair extension myth we hear.

And the truth is slightly more complicated.

Can hair extensions damage your natural hair? Yes, if they’re applied incorrectly.

The wrong method, sections that are too small for the weight attached to them, excessive tension, poor placement or extensions that aren’t maintained properly can all cause unnecessary stress on the natural hair.

But that’s not how professional extension work should be done.

Before applying extensions, we need to understand what your natural hair can safely support.

Fine hair may require smaller bonds and less weight.
Thicker hair may safely support more.
Fragile or compromised hair needs an entirely different approach.

That’s why we don’t work from a standard formula such as “everyone needs 100g”.

Sometimes less is actually better.

The goal is to create the length or density you want while respecting the hair you already have.

Extensions aren’t automatically damaging. Poorly planned extensions can be.

And that’s a very important difference.

Book a consultation at Leeds Style Concept and we’ll assess your natural hair before recommending any method or amount of hair.
