Nearcut up and running again! Phew!

Hey! The Nearcut booking system has crashed - their end not ours! So you cannot access bookings via us atm. Will update you when I have more info!

Well it’s a small world!….within seconds of meeting Professor Hooper at the neuroscience labs at Manchester Uni- I realised I knew him and used to cut his hair when he lived in Leeds!!😆…it was about 14 years ago!

His team is funded by Alzheimer’s Research UK and after his amazing talk on the work they are currently doing - we had a tour of 2 labs by 2 members of his research team. We had been split into smaller groups to visit the labs.

We were actually specifically told by him that we weren’t to repeat the finer details of what we had been told today ( not sure why…) but we could tell people the “gist” of what we saw/ heard. It felt quite a privilege to see what the money that you all helped raise - goes towards.

It’s amazing to think that behind the scenes- day after day - away from the bright colours of the charities - these scientists are working tirelessly to make advancements in the treatment and hopefully eradication of Alzheimer’s in the future. It was a very inspiring morning.

So for the very last time- THANK YOU from both of us for the money you helped us raise towards this wonderful research. It was an honour to be allowed into the labs to see what your donations are going towards

(The scientist in the blue lab coat (gawd I’ve forgotten her name 🤦🏻‍♀️) is doing stem cell research and how this can help them replicate Alzheimer’s in brain cells and subsequently stall the progression. )

The shop will be open on Saturday 27th of June.

There is also a couple of Monday openings.

Hello Everyone!

Jonathan and I would like to thank all of you that donated to our fundraising marathon!

The final total was £4310 in donations and the gift aid that the government adds to the this- brings the entire money raised for Alzheimers Research UK to a staggering £5291!! NEVER did we imagine this would be our total!

I'm trying to thank you all individually in the shop- but for those donors who were anonymous or those that only had a first name (so I'm not quite sure which of you it was) please accept our thanks for your kind words and donations.

At the end of this month we are going to the Neuroscience Dept. at Manchester University- for a tour of the lab that Alzheimers Research UK run...to be shown how the money they get as a charity is being spent, and the new developments they are discovering in the treatment of this awful disease. I shall report back after our tour!

Again, thank you for your help in reaching this absolutely amazing total!

Well that’s me done a marathon! 😃…the heat was brutal! Even by my standards! Our friends came up to support us and they were tracking the heat and at midday it was showing 27 degrees ….I finished in 5.52.28.
I’m very proud of myself 😃. 👟👟🏅

Hi everyone!

I did my final run on my marathon training plan this morning!

We head up to Edinburgh on the train tomorrow morning- and we are both looking forward to soaking up the atmosphere in Edinburgh over the weekend!

So far with your help ( and family and friends of course!) we have raised £3560 for Alzheimers Research UK. Thank you all SO MUCH!

I am feeling 100% mentally and physically ready to take on the marathon in the glorious sunshine!

I will send an email on Sunday with the results!

Race bibs have arrived! 😃

Most of you know that my husband and I are taking on the Edinburgh Marathon very soon- something that sounded impossible not that long ago!

The training has gone really well and I feel so ready for the challenge and feel confident that my training plan has worked wonders! A couple of Saturdays ago I ran the longest distance in my training block, 22 miles ...and still felt strong.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already sponsored us. We are doing it in support of a cause that means so much to us and we are incredibly grateful for all the encouragement and kindness people have already shown.
