That's a Wrap!

After 29 years, 1 month and 6 days 'The Hair Academy' closed its door for the last time yesterday and what a brilliant day we had. . . from start to finish!

What an incredible journey its been, never did I think when I decided to open my own salon at the age of 26, I would have been in business for 29 years!

I remember opening on 19th May 1993 feeling a mixture of excitement and apprehension with only 6 years of management behind me, a business bank loan and a new flat with a mortgage just knowing it had to work and I'm proud to say, It Did! and I really couldn't have achieved it without all of You!

Those two little words 'THANK YOU' somehow do not seem big enough, but I truly do mean 'Thank you' to each and everyone of you for your continued loyalty throughout the years 😍

I've had the pleasure of training some brilliant girls from apprenticeship level to fully qualified stylists and worked with some brilliant hairdressers along the way 🥰

There have been ups & downs and most definitely some bumps along the way with 2 recessions, and the biggest one in all of our lives, Covid-19 and I was so grateful we came out the other side 🤲

We have had tears, dramas, birthdays, babies, weddings, holidays together and crazy nights out where we will all take away fantastic memories (sometimes I think 🤔 I should really write a book. . .maybe I will 😉)

I know for sure who I cannot Thank enough or be more grateful for is my 'Dear Sharon' 💕 who would have thought when she interviewed ME 😂 (she literally did) for a Saturday job, you would still be here 28 years later. . .
I think you definitely deserve a medal 🏅

What amazing memories we have made and will continue to make 💕 and with her about to begin her New Venture. . .I couldn't be prouder 💕
I am not sure it has really sunk in yet that our working journey together has come to an end and I cannot thank Sharon enough for all her support, hard- work and loyalty not just as an employee but as a friend too 💕

I will always look back at all the wonderful memories I have made and have already forgotten the not so good bits 😂 and try not to feel sad. . .all good things must come to an end so it's time to reflect and look forward, not back as I am not going that way!

Thank you to everyone for all our beautiful flowers 💐 Gifts 🎁 Wine 🥂 Cards and messages, we have been totally over welmed and spoilt 💕

It's been an emotional week, we have laughed, we have cried (lots) there have been Good-byes and See you Soon's and if your not asleep already and you've made it to the end of my final Hair Academy Post 🙈 for Everyone who has ever stepped through our door. . .

This is our last week at The Hair Academy as we CLOSE permanently on Saturday 😔

Not sure the reality of it has really kicked in yet for us but i know we will have the Best Week Ever!!!
It's certainly going to be a busy one 💇‍♀️✂️💇‍♀️

A quick *Reminder* for anyone needing an appointment with SHARON, she will be working Tuesday, Friday & SATURDAY this week and we have Our Maddie back for our last day, to give us a hand too 😊

For one last time. . .The Dream Team will be back together 💕

I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating the Platinum Jubilee 👸🇬🇧👑🥂🍾
After 6 days off (that was most definitely needed) the batteries are recharged and it's now all systems go in the salon for the last remainding 3 weeks. . .we still can't believe this is going to be the end of our journey at The Hair Academy 😢

Still onwards and upwards, as busy as the book is looking there are still appointments available up to Saturday 25th June 💇‍♀️✂️

This Crazy Lady aka 'OUR SHARON' will be WORKING on SATURDAY 25th JUNE too 🎉 so if you are needing an appointment, give us a call ☎️

Today we are celebrating 29 years of The Hair Academy 🎉🎉🎉 and what an achievement, even if I do say myself whilst blowing that trumpet 🎺 🎉🎺

Sadly though this is going to be our last one, as on Saturday 25th June 2022
I will be closing the door for the very last time.

This has certainly not been an easy decision that's for sure and one I have battled with over the past few months with my heart definitely ruling my head knowing deep down, this is the right time to close.

In the present climate with increasing overheads the only way to continue was to pass those costs onto you and this was something I didn't want to have to do and with my lease due for renewal it made sense to close the business.

One of the hardest decisions too was thinking of my dear Sharon who has been with me almost from the beginning starting as our saturday girl, training her through her apprenticeship to the fantastic stylist she is today, the thought of our journey together coming to an end still seems so surreal but I am positive when I say. . .All good things must come to an end but also opens up New Adventures too. . .So watch this Space in the next few weeks! (and No, before anyone thinks I am opening a new salon, I most definitely am not 😂)

So for today, I am not going to feel sad, I am going to reflect on the last 29 years where the good definitely out ways the bad and celebrate as the salon deserves, with a Ching ching 🥂 and of course, a great big slice of cake 🍰

The Hair Academy will be CLOSED
Thursday 14th April due to me now having to have a tooth taken out!

I am so sorry to have caused any inconvenience but due to my, already wobbly tooth. . .I have knocked it today and am in extreme pain (child birth pain was a sinch to this) unfortunately I am unable to be seen until tomorrow for which I am so grateful 🙏 (although I may have pulled it out myself by then!!!) but it means having to close 😞

I will be in the salon on Good Friday all day as we close on Easter Saturday so Thank You to my clients who were able to re-schedule for me 💕
I am now off to continue pacing the floor 😔😔😔😔

As you may already be aware, as from Thursday 27th January 2022
face coverings will no longer be legally required to wear!

However, the recommendation is to continue to wear them in enclosed spaces, so this will now be your choice 🙂😷

We shall be continuing to wear our face masks but please know that there is no judgement. . .Do what you feel is right for you!
