L'Oreal have formulated a new haircare programme with Aptyl-100. A long-lasting exclusive recharging treatment for damaged hair, which starts in-salon and can be prolonged and recharged for up to 6 weeks at home.In Salon a hair fibre test is carried out to ensure the correct Pro-Fiber range is used. There are three levels, Revive, Restore and Recover. The correct shampoo which prepares the fibre for Aptyl 100, then concentrate, giving instant suppleness and then renew masque is applied giving Aptyl 100 for long lastingness, followed by a dedicated leave in serum for heat protection before styling.To prolong the treatment at home the dedicated shampoo, conditioner, mask and leave-in serum can be purchased in the salon. On Monday Karen and Carlie attended a hair up course with Sophia Hilton at Vanilla Rooms in Hornchurch. The aim of the course was to learn to do a hair up in 5 minutes without using any tools e.g straighteners. They learnt the proper way to pre-prep the hair, which involved a good dose of product and then some more!!! Sophia showed them various hair up techniques. They were taught the difference between a Dutch and French braid, one goes underneath and one goes over the top and how to do the luxe pony tail, a high pony tail which is on trend at the moment.
This morning, for our Friday 13th Fun Friday, Chloe organised an artistic half hour of Christmas card decorating - it is our last one before Christmas so we can be excused for the early festivities! Lots of glitter and sparkle was involved and that wasn't just Mark's usual make-up! All of our efforts looked very festive!

The new Bond film Spectre has been released. In anticipation for it's release a poll was taken for everyone's favourite Bond Girl... and it's not who you might think! Forget Halle Berry or Denise Richards it is in fact Judi Dench!
We wonder whether the new Spectre Actresses can compete!
Monica Bellucci, is, at 50, the oldest Bond Girl in history. This is a revolutionary role where a 30 year old Bond finally has a relationship with an older woman! Monica is quoted as saying "Many 50 year old women feel invisible to men, but id doesn't have to be that way. What is the problem with a man of 30 being with a woman of 50?" The gorgeous actress added "True sexiness is in the mind, the imagination and not in the age of the body". Well put we said.
Monica isn't the only gorgeous lady in Spectre. Lea Seydoux, one of fashion's favourite ladies also has a part. Lea has been making stylish statements on red carpets for years, appearing in Miu Miu and Prada campaigns.
Even better news, this fashionable Bond Girl is a high street fan! Shunning designer frocks for an amazing Ghost gown for the red carpet.

This week we had Lorraine the L'Oreal Technician come in for some training, we had a 2 hour power lunch with her. She showed us the up-coming L'Oreal Autumn/Winter trends within colour dark violets and rich coppers and how to carry out colour contouring to complement clients' face shapes. We had a model, who was wiling to go from blonde to copper, incorporating the it-look for Autumn/Winter. Our model was coloured by our first year trainees, Megan and Chloe, which gave them the opportunity to do something a little bit out of the box.
In the 2 hours we were also shown a lovely new treatment and we were also shown some new steam straighteners which we tried out on models in the Salon, showing what training you can achieve even in a short period of time!
The treatment range was called Pro Fiber, which we tried on Karen and Jo. It is a long-lasting recharging haircare programme for damaged hair that does just that, leaving the hair soft and intensely shiny. The steam straighteners called Steampod, deliver a continuous stream of high pressure steam and a long-lasting, smooth high gloss finish on the hair. The in-salon tool, combines styling and hair-care benefits, which can be used to add texture and movement to the hair. The Steampod has 5 temperature settings, which means they can be adjusted for different hair types and styling needs. Lisa was the model for the steam straighteners! Lisa said they were fab and infused her hair with shine, also good for creating a curl aswell as straightening.
Here at FX our Mondays are Training Days with our Apprentices. They spend the day being overseen by our Assessors Mark and Karen, who teach everything they will need to become qualified hairdressers. Mel, Megan, Chloe and Katie have models throughout the day to practise on whilst Mark or Karen watch them closely. Our Apprentices also gain powerful knowledge from our L’Oreal colour specialist, Charlie and by attending all the in-house training that the whole team benefit from regularly.
Here are some of the comments the girls have made about their on-going training within the salon:
Mel has really enjoyed the theory Charlie has been helping her with. She loves keeping up with the latest trends of colours and cuts and learning how to put her own twist on them. She loves Mondays as she feels she learns something new each week.
Chloe loves learning new things and taking before and after pictures. She has enjoyed the customer service training and feels it has made her more confident. As she has just started her training she enjoys the new techniques she learns every Monday.
Megan loves the variety of models, giving her an opportunity to understand how to work with different hair types, enabling her to develop more in her training. She enjoys making any service unique to her.
Katie has been at FX just over a month and feels she has vastly improved, she loves meeting new clients and updating her page with her latest work. She feels Mark and Karen have helped her loads.

This Wednesday we invited Stacey Broughton into the Salon for the day to inspire us with some new techniques.
He refreshed everyone with new ideas and inspiration. Karen said that he renewed her passion for the industry. Megan found the way he showed how to take a normal haircut and make it more like a catwalk style very interesting and has shown her how to be more creative. He also gave her ideas to add extras like plaits for clients.
Charlie found the new ideas for cutting a bob very inspiring and enjoyed the banter she had with Stacey! He also talked about how he would place colour in the hair once it was cut, which she found very interesting. She said she would utilize the new techniques in the salon.
Katie, our newest team member, was amazed by the cut that he did and would love to be able to cut like him!
Mel learnt that a bob doesn't need to be boring and you can definitely put your own twist on it and that your haircut is a part of your identity!
Lisa was encouraged to think outside the box and found him very funny and talented in his visualization of haircuts. She said she would definitely be doing more disconnection cuts in the salon.
Everyone was agreement that Stacey was brilliant fun and very entertaining!.. and we had a couple of extra guests popping in to say Hi to Stacey…it was lovely to see you Dale ted Watkins & Adam Sloan x

Well October is here! Although we have seen a pleasant change in the weather this week let's hope it continues a bit longer, We will soon be turning our thoughts to the festive season and have been taking Christmas bookings, don't leave it too late!
