✨ Sculptra® Treatment – Fat Pad Atrophy (1st MPJ) 💉

This patient presented with fat pad atrophy beneath the 1st MPJ (big toe joint) — experiencing pain and tenderness on the ball of the foot, particularly during walking and prolonged weight‑bearing.

Over time, the natural cushioning beneath the forefoot can thin, leading to increased pressure over bony prominences such as the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint.
This can result in:
• Localised pain
• Painful Corn’s
• Difficulty in footwear
• Callus formation
• Reduced shock absorption

To help restore cushioning and improve comfort, we carried out Sculptra® dermal filler treatment.

Sculptra works by stimulating collagen production, gradually improving tissue thickness and providing additional padding in areas affected by fat pad loss.

For patient comfort, we performed a tibial nerve block, ensuring the foot was fully numb before treatment — meaning no pain during the injection itself.

✅ Area assessed and marked precisely
✅ Sterile skin preparation
✅ Tibial nerve block administered
✅ Targeted placement beneath the 1st MPJ
✅ Soft fleecy padding applied for off‑loading

Post‑procedure advice included:
• Light duties for 24 hours
• Non‑weight bearing initially where possible
• Off‑loading to support optimal settling

This treatment aims to reduce pressure, restore cushioning, and improve quality of life when conservative measures alone are not sufficient.

If you’re experiencing persistent pain on the ball of your foot, fat pad atrophy may be contributing.

Plantar Fasciitis – Corticosteroid Injection 💉👣

This patient presented with left plantar fasciitis, reporting pain levels of 8/10, particularly first thing in the morning and after periods of rest.

Ultrasound assessment showed the plantar fascia measuring over 6mm in thickness.
For reference, a healthy plantar fascia is typically under 4mm, so this confirmed significant inflammation.

After a thorough assessment and discussion of treatment options, we proceeded with a targeted corticosteroid injection to help reduce inflammation and relieve pain.

The area was prepared using strict sterile technique before carefully administering the injection at the plantar fascia origin.

Corticosteroid injections can be highly effective in settling persistent plantar fasciitis when symptoms are not resolving with conservative care alone.

Plantar fasciitis can be debilitating — but you don’t have to keep living with heel pain.

Brave Patient Spotlight – Ingrown Toenail Surgery 💪

This incredible 11‑year‑old patient came to see us with a painful ingrown toenail on her left great toe, affecting both sides of the nail.

She was honestly amazing from start to finish — calm, brave, and an absolute star throughout the whole procedure ⭐

We carried out a partial nail avulsion of both sulci with chemical ablation to permanently prevent those painful edges from growing back.

✅ Toe fully numbed with local anaesthetic
✅ Ingrowing nail borders carefully removed
✅ Phenol applied to stop regrowth
✅ Sterile dressing applied
✅ Full aftercare pack provided

Everything went smoothly, and she handled it brilliantly 👏
