I’m 33 weeks pregnant and I just woke up from a nap.

Autumn is upon us and I want to hold on to that summer glow for as long as possible. Till next spring preferably! That’s why Ed and I developed the Star Glow Serum aka sunshine in a Bottle.

As the seasons change I find my skin needing extra nourishment. And while I’m not missing this summer’s relentless heatwaves, I already long for the summer sun.

As a holistic Facialist and formulator, I created the Star Glow Serum to bring that healthy golden radiance to skin all year around. Mark has been a surfer for 20+ years and gets in the ocean water three or four times a week. In his words: “Nothing has been able to help until I found Star Seed Star Glow Serum.”

Fellow ocean people, what’s in your post-surf kit?

It’s easier said than done. But to stop being mean to your skin might be exactly what it needs to heal.

The endless criticism when you look in the mirror, could be replaced by a few daily compliments. I have beautiful eyes, my skin feels soft to the touch, I like the shape of my lips. Focus on something you’ve always been happy with. The more we do this, the less there is space for the negative voice. And the more radiant and glowy we become.

So much of beauty is in our attitude, our magnetism. Some days, I really feel the hit of the little gremlin in my head, whispering evil comments to me. And it triggers a stress response, releasing cortisol and a feeling of anxiety that makes us sleep less, worry more and effectively block our own healing.

It is so worth trying, looking and your face and body and finding things that makes you smile. You might have a perfect favourite finger on your left hand, good legs, great hair. There’s always something.

Let this be a reminder to you as much as to myself.

I’ve been sitting on this conversation for far too long.

We recorded this podcast episode late last year, and listening back to it now, there are so many little pieces I still want to share.

This was one of them.

For me, sustainability has never been about doing one visibly “good” thing while ignoring everything happening behind it. That would be greenwashing.

It’s about looking at the whole picture. What are we making? What is it made from? Where did those ingredients come from? How was it grown? What happens to the packaging? What are we asking people to put on their skin every day?

None of us will ever do everything perfectly. We certainly don’t. But I think there is a huge difference between genuinely trying to build something better in every department of your business, and using one good initiative to distract from everything else.

That distinction matters.
