The Gunmetal Nails 🖤

I genuinely think that as an educator, part of my job is to stay curious and keep trying new products instead of just sticking to what I already know.

I recently got my hands on LiNTO™ Beauty and they very kindly put together a parcel for me with products I chose myself to try. And the second I saw this shade, I knew I needed it in my kit 🥹

And honestly, it did not disappoint.

The pigmentation was beautiful, it was thin but still covered so well, glided over the nail so nicely and levelled beautifully.
It was just such a pleasure to work with!!

This is exactly why I love exploring and trying new things.
If I didn’t, I wouldn’t find little gems like this, and I also wouldn’t be able to come on here and give you my genuine opinion.

I want to be able to recommend things because I’ve actually tried them, tested them and enjoyed working with them myself.

I’ve never really understood the idea of having to stay loyal to just one gel brand.

There’s honestly so much out there to explore, and I feel like using different products actually teaches you so much more as an artist.

Some days the room is colder and I want something a little more runny and self-levelling because a really thick gel would just slow me down.

On hotter days I might reach for something denser because it gives me more control.

If I’m working on longer nails, I may want a harder or thicker gel that gives me the strength and structure I need.

One brand might have my perfect n**e, another might make my favourite hard gel, and another might have colours that apply beautifully and are super opaque.

And that’s the beauty of it.

You get to choose what actually works best for you, your technique and the nail in front of you.

I’d rather choose a product because I genuinely love how it performs than force myself to make something work just because it belongs to one brand.

That’s why I’m also glad I kept exploring because otherwise I wouldn’t have found THIS gel.
It spreads beautifully under the brush but at the same time it’s strong and holds the shape beautifully!

There are days when absolutely nothing seems to work the way you want it to.

The gel floods.
Fluff appears from nowhere.
Your brush falls on the floor.
The colour suddenly doesn’t want to sit smoothly.
Your client is late and your whole day starts running behind.

And suddenly you start questioning yourself over things you normally do without even thinking.

But one bad appointment, one bad day, or even one frustrating week does not define you as an artist.

Sometimes you’re tired. Sometimes you’re distracted. Sometimes products, tools and timing simply don’t cooperate.

You don’t need to turn every difficult day into proof that you’re not good enough.

Take a step back. Take a breath. Slow yourself down and accept that today might simply be one of those days.

Then come back tomorrow.

Because becoming a great artist isn’t only about perfect sets and perfect days. It’s also about learning how to handle the imperfect ones without letting them destroy your confidence.

Those days build resilience too. 🤍

A little glimpse of the woman behind Bombshell. 🤍

I don’t show much of myself here.
Most of what you see is my work, my students, my education and everything I’m building behind the scenes.
I take so much pride in the quality of my work.

My brand has always been deeply personal to me.
It’s a reflection of my standards, my ambition, my creativity and how much of myself I’ve poured into building it.

For a long time, I thought ambition meant doing more. More clients, more hours, more opportunities, saying yes to everything and somehow squeezing it all into the same 24 hours.

I’m still ridiculously ambitious. Probably more than ever.
But I’m learning that constantly being busy isn’t the same as moving forward.

I want the space to develop new ideas, be creative and bring my best energy to everyone I teach and work with.
I want to build the next chapter of my legacy, rather than being so busy maintaining what I’ve already created that I have no space to create what comes next.

I want to travel, feel like the best version of myself, have time for the people closest to me, experience more, create more and think bigger.

Because the goal was never to build a successful business just to become trapped inside it.

I want to build something that outlives the hours I put into it, while still having a beautiful life to call my own.

This is a little bit of the woman behind Bombshell.
The nails are only one part of the story. 🤍

Did you know there can be 60+ different reasons why nails lift?

The more knowledgeable you are about nail structure, prep, product chemistry, application, shape and client habits, the easier it becomes to actually diagnose why your sets aren’t lasting instead of guessing.

Comment “LIFTING” and I’ll send you the 3 most common reasons your square nails aren’t lasting.

Earlier in my career, I thought more meant better.

More bits. More abrasiveness. More tools. More skin removed. I believed that chasing every microscopic piece would automatically give me a cleaner result.

Working in London exposed me to hundreds of different skin types, and very quickly I learned that what works beautifully on one person can be completely wrong for another.

For a while, I blamed aftercare when clients came back with more grown, irritated or dry skin. Then I started looking at my own work more critically.

Instead of blindly repeating the same steps, I started asking: does this skin actually need this?

That changed everything.

Sometimes leaving that tiny layer I once would have chased gives me a cleaner result at the next appointment and skin that looks calmer, softer and healthier.

Experience taught me that good cuticle work isn’t about how much you can remove.

It’s knowing when to stop.

And I think that’s one of the biggest signs of growth as an artist: not proving how much you can do, but understanding how little actually needs to be done.

The more I learn, the less I rely on fixed steps and the more I rely on assessment.

Because technique should adapt to the skin in front of you, not the other way around 🕊️🤍

I don’t mind spending 2.5–3 hours on a set if that’s what it takes for me to be genuinely satisfied with the result.

And when I say “satisfied”, I don’t mean perfect.

We are not machines. We are not AI. There will always be tiny imperfections because this is work created by human hands.

But I want to be able to zoom in on my work and see very little that I would change.

I want to look back at that set months or years later and think: WOW, I actually did that!! 🤩🥹

And I want the person leaving my chair to look at their nails and feel that the price they paid matches the standard they received.

That’s also why I’m not afraid to charge £150+ for a set when I know how much time, education, precision and care goes into producing it.

Somewhere along the way, nail artists became obsessed with becoming faster…

And yes, efficiency matters.

But speed should come as a result of experience. It should never come at the expense of your work.

If you need 3 hours right now to create something you are truly proud of, take the 3 hours.

Don’t rush yourself into producing work you don’t even want your name attached to just because somebody online told you a set “should” take 90 minutes.

Build your quality first.

Speed will follow.

Your standard is what people will remember. 🤍

This is such a good example of what the right mindset, the right education and consistent practice can create in a relatively short amount of time 🥹

My student Medea has been working part-time as a nail artist for the past two years, and one of the things I’ve noticed most about her is how much attention she pays to detail.

She’s disciplined, she practises, she asks questions and she understands something that I think is so important in this industry: learning requires humility.

She never approaches education thinking she already knows enough. She keeps investing in courses, keeps refining her technique and understands that progress takes time, repetition and patience.

And you can really see that mindset reflected in her work.

I wanted to share her progress on my grid because she’s such a beautiful example of what can happen when a student genuinely applies what they learn and keeps pushing themselves to improve.

As an educator, seeing that development is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. 🤍
