A few weekends ago, I had the privilege of attending an advanced cadaver anatomy course in Athens, organised by Evolus.

And yes, you read that correctly—cadaver. We were learning on donated human bodies, studying anatomy layer by layer and practising injection techniques in the most realistic environment possible. You won’t see the head in my video, as filming it wasn’t permitted, but you may notice the metal dissection tables with the bodies respectfully covered.

People often ask why aesthetic doctors attend cadaver courses.

The answer is simple: there is no better way to learn anatomy.

Reading a textbook gives you theoretical knowledge, but practical experience creates long-term memory. When you actually see the anatomical structures, identify them with your own eyes, and work with your own hands, your brain builds much stronger neural connections than it ever could from reading alone.

That matters because everything I learn stays with me when I’m back in clinic—during consultations, treatment planning, and every procedure I perform. A deeper understanding of anatomy means better decision-making, greater precision, and, most importantly, safer treatments for my patients.

It may sound unusual—or even a little intimidating—but for doctors, this is one of the most valuable educational experiences possible. Every cadaver course reminds me how much there is still to learn and how important it is to keep improving throughout your career.
