One of the things I love most about my work is how quickly people soften.

Not just physically, but emotionally too.

There's often a moment when the shoulders drop, the breathing slows and the nervous system realises it's safe to rest for a while.

In a world that's constantly asking us to do more, it feels quietly radical to spend twenty minutes simply helping another person feel cared for or allowing ourselves to be treasured πŸƒ

Client Testimonial above:

Most people imagine workplace massage happens in a spa.

It doesn't.

It happens in ordinary meeting rooms.

Empty corners.

Quiet spaces.

Wherever we can create twenty minutes of calm in the middle of a busy working day.

We've spent nearly 20 years helping organisations show their people they're genuinely valued.

Receiving feedback like this from Canva reminds us why we started Lotus Touch in the first place.

Thank you for trusting us with your team and for endlessly treasuring us in return. πŸ’š

Welcome to your second week of 2025. We hope you're still feeling nourished and resourced from your winter break.

Weather it's a midweek lunchbreak walk, a monthly workplace massage session (we can help with that one) or a 90 second neck stretch as you make a cuppa, now is a great time to think about incorporating some new micro self care moments.

Let's create a year that includes listening to and responding to our needs.

Luxurious and ancient. To feel it under my feet and hear each grain's story whispered in the waves.

The beauty and power of nature.

Aren't we lucky to live on this lovely earth? Let's enjoy it and do all we can to protect it πŸ’š

The start of Autumn feels like a time for reflection.

Here are three questions we've been asking ourselves:

1. In what ways have I treasured myself and other people this year?
2. In what ways have I moved my life in the direction I'd like to go?
3. How can I contribute more powerfully to creativing the world I want us to live in?

What questions arise for you when you think of the 12 weeks left of 2024?

As Autumn firmly beds in, how is your relationship with work and self care shifting? As picnics in the park and outdoor seats at the cafe fade into memory, have you got stuck eating quickly at your desk and then back on with work? A brisk 15 minute walk outside can do wonders for your mental and physical health, reducing cortisol and boosting endorphines, could you squeeze one in at lunchtime tomorrow?

And remember to look up. The Autumn colours have started to work their magic!

Why did we choose the Lotus as our company namesake?

The Lotus flower is the ultimate symbol of positive transformation. It thrives in the muddiest swamps but emerges beautiful and unsullied. Over centuries, many have used the Lotus as an analogy of the power that each person possesses, to be able to use difficult situations as the fuel to create something wonderful.

The Lotus flower is also special because it produces fruit and blossom at the same time. This concept, often described as the simultaneity of cause and effect, teaches that when we make a cause, the effect is also manifested immediately in the depths of our lives.

How does this relate to massage?
*The more stressed a person, the more dramatic the difference we can achieve through relieving muscle tension, lowering blood pressure and boosting the immune system.
*We wanted LotusTouch to be like the lotus flower, going to the muddiest swamps, challenging work places, and transforming them into creative environments where people can do their best.
*The simultaneous benefit of massage. You have a massage and not only do you feel the benefits tomorrow, but it also feels divine in the moment.

Our conversations around massage have changed so much over the years.

We set up LotusTouch in 2007. With a potential new client, often our first dialogues were about the benefits of massage; on mental and physical health, on employee wellbeing and motivation. A key question, difficult to quantify was "What is the ROI?" The return on investment. How to justify the expense of providing massage for employees.

Now we find many companies have set up a health and wellbeing budget, we are no longer asked what the benefits of massage are, or the ROI. A slow shift has begun, a cultural maturation around the importance of taking care of ourselves and others.

Touch. It can be so powerful.

Once close contact services opened up again during Covid, we took great care to understand how we could provide massage safely for everyone. We were ready, but to be honest, thought it would be a very slow start back up with health anxiety running high.

In fact what we found was a rush of bookings, as the need for nurturing touch had gone unfulfilled for too long. People were in great need of the gifts of massage: safe touch, a moment of stillness, to be nourished, to be in connection.
