✨ Why don’t we perform laser hair removal over tattoos? 🚫⚡

Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle. However, tattoo ink also contains pigment that can absorb the laser energy.

When the laser passes over a tattoo, the ink can absorb this energy instead of the laser targeting only the hair. This can cause burns, blistering, skin damage, scarring, and changes to the tattoo’s colour or appearance.

⚠️ So, what do we do instead?

We carefully avoid the tattooed area during treatment to protect both your skin and your tattoo. The surrounding, untattooed skin can usually be treated safely, depending on an individual assessment.

💡 Remember: Laser hair removal is designed to target hair follicles, not tattoo ink. Avoiding tattoos during treatment is an essential safety precaution, not just a preference.
