What will the next year of EPR look like in practice? And what does the industry need to learn from its first year?
Extended Producer Responsibility is reshaping the relationship between packaging producers, government, consumers and the wider recycling system. As pEPR moves from policy into operational reality, collaboration across the value chain will be critical to making the system work.
At London Packaging Week, Jane Martin, Head of Communications & Engagement at PackUK, will join Karen Graley, Chief Operating Officer at UK Packaging PRO, for a fireside chat exploring the progress of pEPR so far, the role of the PRO and the relationships shaping its implementation.
With perspectives spanning communications, behaviour change, packaging policy and large-scale environmental compliance, Jane and Karen will offer insight into where the industry is today and what needs to happen next.
In the industry voices leading the future of EPR, they will explore:
• What the first year of pEPR has taught the industry
• The evolving role of the Producer Responsibility Organisation
• The key relationships shaping the delivery of pEPR
• What producers and the wider value chain need to focus on next
• How collaboration can help build a more sustainable packaging system

✨ Where the packaging industry comes together
For Kim Palmer, Head of Packaging Innovation at Trinny London, London Packaging Week is about bringing different sectors of the industry together to share perspectives, challenge ideas and look ahead to what’s next.
🤝 Different sectors, different perspectives.
Bringing together luxury, beauty, drinks and FMCG gives brands and suppliers the opportunity to see how others are approaching packaging and discover where ideas align.
🔓Accessibility is the new trend.
Kim highlighted the growing importance of accessibility and functionality, from making packaging easier to open to designing with different consumer needs in mind.
💬 Nothing replaces face-to-face connection.
Meeting suppliers in person, exploring new ideas and having spontaneous conversations creates more opportunities to collaborate, brainstorm and get creative.
✨ What makes LPW stand out?
For Kim, it’s the combination of London-based brands, leading suppliers, inspiring speakers and standout events like the Innovation Awards and Pentawards all bringing the industry together under one roof.
