I know. And I know some extensionists will consult while your current extensions are still fitted.

I prefer doing it the old-fashioned way.

Especially with a new client, I need to see YOUR natural hair without somebody else’s work in the way.

I need to assess your scalp, natural density, hair condition and any weak areas before recommending a method, amount or weight of hair.

And yes, that sometimes means going without extensions for a few days. 😬

But here’s the thing…

When you’re investing in beautiful, bespoke single-donor hair that, with the right care, can last for years rather than months, surely a few days without extensions is a small sacrifice?

We’re not talking about a quick, temporary fix. We’re talking about a long-term investment in quality hair, expertly matched and fitted to YOUR natural hair.

A few days of inconvenience for potentially years of beautiful hair? I’d say that’s worth it. 😉

Well… this was a first. 😂

A brand-new client, who had never been to me before, called me “shady and unprofessional” because I required a deposit to confirm her appointment.

I’ll admit, I found the wording quite insulting — particularly because deposits are standard practice for many professional hair businesses.

When you book with me, I reserve that time specifically for you. Depending on the service, that can be several hours of my working day.

A deposit isn’t anything sinister. It’s simply a commitment to the appointment — from both sides.

My booking policies are clear, they apply equally to everyone, and nobody is obliged to book if they’re not comfortable with them.

But having professional boundaries around my time certainly doesn’t make my business shady.

No deposit = no confirmed appointment. Simple, professional, and staying that way. 🤍

Some transformations deserve more than a rushed appointment.

Going from short hair to long, natural curls isn’t just about adding extensions. The colour, curl pattern, density, placement and cut all have to work together — otherwise it just looks like extensions.

For this transformation I sourced bespoke single-donor Slavic hair with a natural curl, chosen specifically to work with her own hair.

No standard colour chart. No one-size-fits-all bundle. And definitely no rushing to get the next person in the chair.

I’d rather do fewer transformations and give each one the time it deserves.

Because the goal isn’t for you to notice the extensions.
It’s for you to notice the hair. ❤️

Bespoke curly/wavy and straight hair extensions | Islington, North London

From my North London studio, I work with bespoke single-donor hair, individually selected for its colour, texture and natural movement.

Because a beautiful blend isn’t just about matching the colour.
The texture has to belong there too.

No obvious extensions. Just beautiful hair. 🤌🏼

If your extension bonds are starting to stick together, don’t ignore it.

This often happens when the roots aren’t being brushed and separated regularly. Shed hair gets caught between neighbouring extensions and slowly starts binding them together.

Caught early? Gently separate them with your fingers and brush through the roots properly.

Left alone? That little tangle can become a matted mess surprisingly quickly.

Being scared to brush your extensions doesn’t protect them. Good aftercare does.

8 weeks later… and look at that regrowth 👀

The bonds are still hard, the natural hair is looking healthy and it’s time to move everything back up 🙌🏼

For fusion bonding maintenance, I remove each bond and refit the extensions using the loose hair again, creating fresh bonds closer to the scalp.

This is single-donor Slavic hair, so good quality hair like this can be enjoyed again and again with the right care. ❤️

And this is always the bit I love seeing at maintenance — all that healthy regrowth underneath.

A matted mess… and completely avoidable 👀

One of the biggest mistakes I see with hair extensions is clients being too scared to brush near the roots.

But avoiding the bonds doesn’t protect your extensions — it can actually create the problem you’re trying to prevent.

Your natural hair sheds every day. With extensions, some of that shed hair stays trapped around the attachments until maintenance. If you’re not brushing and separating the roots regularly, those loose hairs can start tangling together and eventually mat.

From DAY ONE: start at the ends, hold the roots with your free hand and gently work your way upwards. Then brush smoothly from roots to ends.

I’m using a Tangle Teezer here, but a good mixed boar-bristle extension brush works beautifully too.

Don’t start brushing properly once it’s already matted. Prevention is much easier than fixing it. ❤️
