Yes, salmon s***m. 🐟 And no, this isn’t just another beauty trend.
Polynucleotides may be having a moment, but I’ve been using them for several years as part of my approach to regenerative skin rejuvenation.
What makes them so interesting? They’re not there to change the shape of your face or simply add volume. Instead, the focus is on supporting the skin from within, encouraging repair, hydration and gradual improvement in skin quality.
And they’re far more versatile than many people realise. ✨ I use polynucleotides across the face, under-eye area, neck, décolletage and hands, particularly where the skin is beginning to look thinner, more tired or less resilient.

Who’s a good candidate for eyelid surgery? 👁️
Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, may be an appropriate option for some people experiencing structural changes around the eye area. Suitability, however, always begins with a careful medical assessment.
It may be considered for:
✨ Excess or loose skin on the upper eyelids
✨ Heaviness or hooding around the eyelids
✨ Prominent under-eye bags or fat pockets
✨ Changes around the eyes that can create a tired appearance
Not every concern around the eyes requires surgery, which is why understanding the underlying cause is an important part of the consultation.
If this is something you’ve been thinking about for a while, I’m always happy to talk. You can send me a message directly or get in touch at 📩 [email protected].

Testimonials such as this one bring me so much professional and personal satisfaction.
Following breast cancer and reconstructive surgery, feeling heard and understood is especially important. My role is not only to consider the technical and aesthetic aspects of treatment, but also to understand how the outcome may affect a patient’s confidence and emotional wellbeing.
Helping a patient feel like herself again is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
As people look to maintain smoother, firmer and more resilient skin over time, skincare alone may not always be enough. This is where treatments such as microneedling can form an important foundation.
Microneedling is a well-established, reliable and versatile treatment, suitable for all skin types and tones following appropriate assessment. With a relatively short and manageable recovery period, it supports the skin’s natural repair response and may contribute to progressive, cumulative improvements in texture, firmness and overall skin quality.

One intense workout cannot replace years of consistent movement. The same is true of our skin.
Rather than waiting for collagen loss to become obvious, collagen banking is about preserving the collagen we already have while supporting the body to continue producing more.
This principle has always shaped my approach to regenerative aesthetics. Healthy ageing is rarely about dramatic interventions or trying to reverse everything at once. It is about making thoughtful decisions early enough to maintain skin quality and tissue health over the long term.
The choices we make every day are our real investment: regular exercise, balanced nutrition, good skincare and consistency. Collagen banking is therefore the one bank I always want to remain in credit, because it encourages us to invest in the quality of our skin before visible changes become pronounced.

When patients notice changes in their skin, it can sometimes feel as though they have appeared suddenly. In reality, collagen loss is gradual and cumulative.
After the age of 30, collagen production declines by around 1–1.5% each year. For women, this decline accelerates significantly during menopause, when collagen levels may fall by as much as 30% during the first few years before accelerating decline to around 2% annually thereafter.
Over time, this can affect the skin’s strength, elasticity and resilience, making it feel thinner or drier, reducing its natural bounce, and allowing fine lines and softer contours to become more noticeable.
For me, understanding these changes is not about fearing ageing or trying to stop it. It is about recognising what is happening beneath the surface so we can support the skin thoughtfully, consistently and at the right time.

Over the past few days, I have been reflecting on what our patients are truly looking for when they choose a clinician, and especially a surgeon.
When a patient tells me that they are relieved to have found a female surgeon, I have come to understand that they are often recognising a particular way of being cared for.
Not better than every other approach. But right for them.
And every patient deserves that choice.

For me, listening has always been at the heart of my work. It means hearing not only what a patient says, but also what she truly means. That sense of shared understanding can make something deeply personal feel easier and far more comfortable.
I would love to hear your thoughts. Does being cared for by another woman make a difference to you, and why?

When I talk to patients about ageing, I often describe collagen as the framework that holds everything together. 🧬
It gives the skin its strength, elasticity and resilience, but its role goes far beyond appearance. Collagen is also essential for healing, tissue repair and the body’s natural ability to regenerate.
That is why I believe we should think about collagen before visible changes become pronounced. Understanding what it is, how it supports the skin and why it gradually declines is the first step towards protecting it more intelligently over time. ✨
This is the beginning of a new series in which I will be sharing more about collagen, how it changes as we age and how we can support healthier, more resilient skin at every stage of life.

Surgery has a place, but it is never the first thing I reach for.
I always begin by understanding what has changed and considering whether smaller, carefully chosen refinements may be enough.
When surgery does become appropriate, I believe it should be judicious, precise and well timed. A small procedure, chosen for the right reason and at the right stage, can sometimes make a meaningful difference by restoring what time has softened rather than changing who you are.
Whether you are in the early stages of considering a facelift or have been thinking about it for some time, I am always happy to have that conversation with you.
