Texture powder or dry shampoo? They look similar, and clients (and plenty of stylists) mix them up. Here's how I choose. π
Dry shampoo is for refreshing.
Its job is to absorb oil. Use it at the roots on day 2 or 3, when hair looks flat or greasy between washes. Insight's Bodifying Dry Shampoo uses rice and tapioca starch to absorb oil, with organic neem oil for scalp balance. Apply to dry roots, leave a few minutes to work, then brush out the excess.
Texture powder is for styling.
Its job is grip and lift. Use it when you're building a look (volume at the root, grip for up-dos, braids and ponytails, or a lived-in matte finish), even on freshly washed hair. A little goes a long way; build it up gradually.
Quick way to decide:
Hair's greasy β dry shampoo
Hair's clean but won't hold β texture powder
And with fine hair that's greasy and flat? Dry shampoo first to refresh, then texture powder to finish.
