Autumn candle season is creeping in, which obviously means it’s time to decide what our candles would sound like 🍂🕯️

Apparently my brain has very specific opinions on this…

🍦 Vanilla Chai × 1979 — The Smashing Pumpkins
Warm, nostalgic, a little dreamy and basically made for that first “oh, I might need a jumper” evening. Vanilla, cinnamon, anise, ginger + clove with a track that feels like autumn nostalgia in audio form.

🌲 Bro.tanical × The Realm — Charlotte de Witte
Cedar + rosewood = dark, woody and moody. So naturally, it needed something with a bit more after-dark energy. Light it, turn the volume up and suddenly your living room thinks it’s somewhere considerably cooler.

🍋 Nourish It × You Sexy Thing — Hot Chocolate
Ylang ylang + bergamot… I mean, the candle practically chose the song itself. Warm, uplifting and just a little bit sexy. Also, Hot Chocolate + candle season? The joke was sitting right there.

🍊 Restore It × Avril 14th — Aphex Twin
Orange, palmarosa + rosemary paired with something softer and beautifully calming. One for slow autumn mornings, rainy windows, a cup of something hot and absolutely nowhere you need to be.

These are also genuinely some of my favourite tracks, so this carousel is basically half candle recommendations, half unsolicited music recommendations 😂

If you haven’t heard any of them yet, consider this your sign. Light the candle. Play the track. Thank me later🕯️🎧

Which pairing are you choosing for the first proper autumn evening? 🍂

Small business can feel competitive sometimes. But the best part? Realising it doesn’t have to be 🩷

Some of the biggest cheerleaders of Fais have been other small businesses — sharing contacts, recommending opportunities, giving advice, celebrating the wins and understanding the days when one lovely order or message completely changes your mood.

Someone else doing well doesn’t mean there’s less success available for you.

So share the contact. Recommend the brand. Leave the comment. Celebrate the sell-out. Tell people about the businesses you love.

There’s room at the table for all of us. And if there isn’t… we’ll get a bigger table 🤝

Here’s to lifting each other up. Always.

A little “how is this actually my life?” moment 🥹📦

It’s only been two weeks since Fais launched on Holland & Barrett online, and I genuinely wasn’t prepared for the response.

Seeing the orders come through — and then seeing all these parcels ready to go out to actual people who have chosen to spend their money on something I created — feels a little surreal.

A few years ago, I honestly wouldn’t have believed you if you’d told me my little brand would one day be stocked on Holland & Barrett, or that I’d be standing here surrounded by orders from you lovely lot. 🥹

Building a small business can be slow, messy and full of moments where you wonder if you’re getting anywhere at all… so I’m trying to stop for a second and actually appreciate how far Fais has come.

Thank you SO much to everyone who has ordered, shared, messaged, recommended Fais or quietly cheered me on from the sidelines. Every single order still means so much to me. 🤍

And if you’ve ordered Fais through Holland & Barrett and loved what you received, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could leave us a review. Reviews make such a difference to a small brand, especially when we’re finding our feet on a new platform.

Now… back to the parcels 📦✨

Turns out, “figuring it out as you go” is a fairly accurate small business strategy 😂

Fais has changed a lot since I started it — and so have I.

There have been products I was convinced were a brilliant idea (they weren’t), things I nearly gave up on that went on to do really well, packaging changes, website changes, opportunities I never saw coming and approximately 847 moments of wondering what on earth I was doing.

And I still don’t really know what Fais will look like in five years.

I used to think that meant I wasn’t planning enough.

Now I think it’s just part of building something of your own.

Because some of the best things that have happened to Fais weren’t on any vision board or business plan. They happened because I tried something, changed my mind, followed an opportunity or just kept going long enough to see what happened.

So this is your reminder — and mine — that changing direction isn’t the same as going backwards.

Sometimes you’re just somewhere you haven’t been before 💫💪🏻💕💃

And for now, I’m quite curious to see where Fais goes next.

Kinda chic, Fais edition ✨

Knowing what’s actually in the products you put on your skin.

Making things in small batches, by actual humans.

A label that’s occasionally a tiny bit wonky because said human applied it.

Packing your order approximately 12 seconds after the notification comes through.

Making your home smell beautiful with essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance.

And keeping a lip balm in every bag because apparently being prepared is chic now.

Basically, all the little things we’ve been quietly doing at Fais for years have finally become a trend.

Who knew? 💅

What’s kinda chic in your world?
