Where massage meets biomechanics, the journey toward freer, more functional, and healthier movement begins 🙌🏻
p.s. First day of vacation… and my mind is already coming up with new ideas. Looks like I’m just not meant to take time off 🙈😁
One possible cause of bunions (hallux valgus) is a structural compensation due to an inability to genuinely pronate the foot.
When you lack true internal rotation at the hip or shin (tibia), your body still needs a way to absorb force and lower its center of gravity. To compensate, it buckles the foot inward. This causes the outside edge of the foot (the 5th metatarsal head) to lift off the floor, dumping repetitive pressure directly onto the inside edge of the foot and the base of the big toe (the 1st metatarsal head).
Over time, to accommodate this excessive weight-bearing stress, the body may form additional bone around the big toe joint, creating the bony prominence known as a bunion. This presents visually as the big toe drifting toward the other toes. This biomechanical model also associates bunion formation with limited hip abduction and femoral external rotation higher up the kinetic chain.
To reduce excessive loading of the big toe, the goal is to restore genuine internal rotation at the hip and tibia and retrain the foot to pronate correctly- allowing the arch to lower while keeping both the base of the big toe and the base of the pinky toe firmly in contact with the ground.

🔀A Rubik’s Cube is one of the best ways I explain the body and biomechanics.
If you twist the bottom part of the cube, every block above it changes position too. The body works the same way - when one area is not moving properly, other parts start compensating and adapting around it.
💪🏻My work is about helping the body “untwist” itself. I want the body to move more naturally and efficiently, without unnecessary tension, stiffness, or compensation patterns.
🥅The goal is simple: restore balanced movement so each part of the body can do its job without overloading the rest of the system.
