We spend a lot of time looking at ourselves at the sink. We wanted to give the water the same attention.

In Dubai, we placed a familiar basin at the centre of a pool, surrounded by light and reflection. Taking it out of the bathroom gives us space to observe something we usually use without thinking: where water becomes part of caring for ourselves.

That change in perspective runs through the story behind Skin Filter. After years of questioning her skin and her routine, she discovered something in her surroundings she could change.

We wanted to give that feeling a physical form: the relief of understanding what you had overlooked, and finding a little more control over it.

How does where we come from shape the way we think about beauty?

Our co-founder, Karlee, sat down with for a conversation spanning travel, culture, beauty standards and our relationship with water, exploring how the places we live and the water we experience can influence the rituals we build around our hair and skin.

What does feeling in control of your routine feel like? We put that question to the people who joined us for a first look at Skin Filter.

For us, it starts with being able to change something you usually inherit: the water in your bathroom. Here are a few of the answers we heard.

‘Regain Control to Feel Like You’ is our new film, inspired by a true story. It’s about the space your skin can take up in your life, and the relief of discovering something you hadn’t thought to question: your water.
