Laser Tattoo Removal

27/07/2026

Think you're stuck with that old tattoo forever?

You're not.

But here's something most people don't realise...

The laser doesn't actually remove your tattoo.

Your body does.

Here's how it works.

The laser breaks the tattoo ink into tiny particles.

Once those particles are small enough, your immune system gradually carries them away.

That's why I always tell my clients...

It takes two to tango.

The laser starts the process.

Your body finishes it.

When most people think about laser tattoo removal, they picture sleeves, names on wrists or large back pieces.

But facial tattoo removal is becoming increasingly common.

From semi-permanent eyebrows that have faded to blue, grey or red, to lip liner that no longer suits you, unwanted beauty spots or small facial tattoos, treatment can help you move forward with confidence.

Because the face has an excellent blood supply, it often heals very well when treated with the correct laser and settings. Every treatment is carefully tailored to your skin, your pigment and your goals.

For some people, the aim is complete removal.

For others, it's simply enough fading to make way for fresh brows or a new cosmetic tattoo.

Whatever your reason, you don't have to live with something that no longer feels like you.

If you've been wondering whether laser tattoo removal is an option for your face, we'd be happy to answer your questions.

Tattoo removal myths, sorted 🖤

There's a lot of misinformation floating about when it comes to laser tattoo removal, so let's clear a few things up.

"New tattoos can't be removed"
Not true. Newer ink just hasn't settled fully into the skin yet, so it might take a few more sessions, but it can still be treated.

"It'll leave a scar"
The laser only targets the ink, not the skin itself, so scarring isn't caused by the treatment. It's usually down to aftercare (picking at blisters, friction while healing) rather than the removal process.

"You can do it in one session"
Ink sits in several layers of skin, so a course of treatments is needed. How many depends on the age and colour of your tattoo and how your body responds.

"It takes ages"
Sessions themselves are quick, often just minutes and up to around 30 for larger pieces, even if the original tattoo took hours to do.

"It doesn't work on all colours"
Black, red, green, blue, purple and pink respond well. Yellow and orange can sometimes be treated. White is the one colour that generally won't shift.

"Removal creams work"
Ink sits deep in the skin, so surface creams can't reach it. At best they might fade the look temporarily.

"You can't fully remove a tattoo"
Full removal is possible in some cases. More often you'll see significant fading, sometimes with light "ghosting" left behind, depending on how old the tattoo is.

"You can't cover an old tattoo"
You can. Fading treatment can get ink light enough for a cover up to sit cleanly on top.

I may remove tattoos, that doesn't mean I don't love them.

Infact, if you've ever met me you'll know I have quite a few myself. And I love hearing about people's tattoo stories...

Three sessions.

One very different tattoo.

This is a great example of how much progress can be achieved with laser tattoo removal when you trust the process.

Notice how much the dark ink has faded and softened, making the tattoo significantly less visible than when treatment began.

Every tattoo responds differently, and seeing progress like this after only 3 treatments is incredibly encouraging.

This is what you can't see happening beneath the surface.

The laser doesn't remove the tattoo directly.

Instead, it breaks the ink into tiny particles that your body can gradually clear away.

Once those particles are small enough, your immune system gets to work, carrying them away through the lymphatic system over time.

That's why tattoo removal is a journey, not a one-day fix.

Every session breaks down more ink.

Every week afterwards, your body continues the fading process.

The result?

A tattoo that becomes lighter and lighter with each treatment.

Not every tattoo removal result is dramatic after one session.

And that's exactly why we like sharing transformations like this.

These photos show the original tattoo and the progress achieved after 3 laser sessions.

The tattoo is still visible.

But look closely.

The wings have softened.

The outlines are lighter.

The lettering has started to break down.

This is what successful tattoo removal often looks like.

Gradual fading.

Steady progress.

Realistic expectations.

One of the biggest misconceptions about laser tattoo removal?

People think the laser removes the tattoo.

It doesn't.

The laser's job is to break the ink into tiny particles.

After that, your body takes over.

Your immune system gradually recognises those particles as waste and carries them away through your lymphatic system.

That's why tattoo removal takes time.

And it's also why two people with similar tattoos can experience different results.

Factors like your health, immune response, tattoo age, ink density and placement all play a role.
