THICK HAIR? HERE’S WHY I Never USE THINNING SCISSORS 👀

If you have very thick hair, you might have been told:

“Let’s thin it out.”

But thinning scissors aren’t always the answer.

✂️ The problem with thinning scissors
They remove weight in lots of tiny sections, but you don’t always have control over exactly where that weight is being removed.

This can sometimes leave thick hair looking:
• fluffy
• uneven
• wispy at the ends
• bulky in the wrong places
• difficult to style as it grows out

✨ So what do I prefer?

For the right hair type, I much prefer using a razor with a fresh, sharp blade to carefully remove weight and create movement.

It allows me to work through the hair more intentionally and choose exactly where I want to reduce bulk.

And…

LAYERS ARE YOUR FRIEND. 🤍

If you have thick hair, you don’t necessarily need to remove loads of hair to make it feel lighter.

The right shape and strategically placed layers can make a HUGE difference while still keeping your hair looking full, healthy and beautiful.

So next time you sit in the chair and hear “shall we thin it out?”…

Ask your stylist HOW they’re planning to remove the weight and WHY.

Because thick hair needs a strategy, not just thinning.
