We’re excited to announce an unexpected opportunity. We’re offering a full-time barber position for the right candidate. This role involves a minimum 34-hour week from Tuesday to Saturday, self employed, or employed hourly wage(paid holidays and pension scheme membership too with employed position) Applicants should have at least 18 months of shop experience, be comfortable with both long and short styles, and be a team player.

Small business insights: equipment costs

Just like any trades person, all barbers have (and keep in good condition) what can only be described as their pride and joy: their tools! Customers often wonder how much a good pair of clippers costs, so here’s the scoop:

Main clipper: £150 on average, plus a blade change every 9-12 months, which is another £30.

Trimmer/detailer: similar price to the main clipper, but might need more blade changes.

Foil shaver: £80 roughly, with a £20 blade change each year.

Scissors: anything from £100 to £2000, but let’s say three different pairs for three types of cutting, around £120 each.

So, there you have it! It’s easy to see why a barber’s kit is their pride and joy—it’s quite expensive! Not to mention the hairdryers, the monthly cost of clipper hygiene spray, Barbicide and neck strips. But, thankfully for you, Mr or Mrs customer, we absolutely love this stuff. So, next time you pop in for a trim, take a moment to appreciate all the money that’s been spent to make your haircut as fresh as possible.
