Your skin is tired too. 🤍

If you've looked in the mirror lately and thought, "I look exhausted," you're probably not imagining it.

Broken sleep, stress, busy mornings, caring for everyone else and simply not having much time for yourself can all show up in how your skin looks and feels.

But here's something I want you to remember:

You don't need a complicated skincare routine to start caring for yourself.

You don't need an hour.

You don't need 10 products.

Sometimes it's simply:

Wash your face
Apply your moisturiser
Drink a glass of water
Take a few slow breaths
Give yourself five minutes without feeling guilty

Small acts of care might not feel like much in the moment, but they add up.

And please don't look at your tired skin and criticise yourself.

Your skin is doing its best, just like you are.

Be patient with your skin.
Be patient with yourself. 🤍

Tonight, choose ONE small thing you can do for yourself. What will it be?

Save this for a day when you need the reminder, and follow Nurtured Essence Studio for simple, realistic skin and self-care for busy mums.

Your skin has a body clock.

Most people have never heard of it, but it influences when your skin protects itself, when it repairs, and how it responds to your skincare routine.

During the day, your skin is in protection mode. It strengthens its barrier and defends itself against UV exposure, pollution and other environmental stressors.

At night, that focus shifts.

Your skin becomes more active in its repair and renewal processes. Cell turnover increases, barrier recovery is supported, and your skin loses more water overnight, making a nourishing evening routine especially important.

This is one of the reasons I recommend treating your morning and evening skincare routines differently.

☀️ In the morning, focus on protecting your skin.

🌙 In the evening, focus on supporting its natural repair processes.

So if your skincare isn't giving you the results you expected, don't just ask "Am I using the right products?"

Ask yourself...

"Am I using them at the right time?"

Your skin already knows what it's doing.

The goal is to work with its biology, not against it.

Have you ever thought about timing your skincare routine?

Your skin isn't meant to be sterile.

It has its own living ecosystem called the skin microbiome, made up of billions of beneficial microorganisms that help protect, strengthen, and support your skin.

When that ecosystem is disrupted, your skin can become more sensitive, irritated, or prone to breakouts.

That's why healthy skin isn't always about adding more products. Sometimes it's about protecting what your skin already has.

As a Registered Nurse and Holistic Skin Therapist, I believe in working with your skin, not against it.

Have you heard of the skin microbiome before?

I have been sitting with something this morning.

So many women I speak to say the same thing.

"I am doing everything right."
"I never miss my SPF."
"I bought the good cleanser."
"So why is my skin still reacting?"

And I used to answer that question with more skincare.
A better routine. A different product. A new step.

But the more I study the relationship between the nervous system and the skin, the more I realise the answer is often not in the bathroom cabinet at all.

Here is what the research is showing us.

Chronic stress raises cortisol.
Sustained cortisol disrupts the lipids that hold your skin barrier together.
It slows your skin's natural repair process.
It triggers inflammation.

And inflamed skin reacts to everything.
It breaks out. It flares. It never quite settles.

Not because you are doing skincare wrong.
Because your body is carrying something your routine cannot fix.

Your skin and your nervous system are in constant conversation.
What you are holding inside will eventually show up on your face.

This is why I take a holistic approach to skin wellness.
Not because it is a trend.
Because the science supports it.
And because the women I work with deserve more than a product recommendation.

They deserve someone who looks at the whole picture.

Rest is not a luxury.
For your skin, it is genuinely part of the treatment.

If this resonates, save it.
And if you are deep diving into anything lately, tell me below.
I would love to know what is shifting for you.

Manual lymphatic drainage.
One of the most underrated treatments out there.
Most people think it's just for post-surgery recovery. It's so much more.
Your lymphatic system is your body's drainage network. It clears waste, reduces inflammation, and supports immune function. When it's sluggish, you feel it. Puffiness. Dull skin. That heavy, tired feeling.
MLD is a gentle, rhythmic technique. Light pressure. Slow movements. Working with your body, not against it.
As a nurse, I understand the lymphatic system from a clinical perspective first. That changes how I approach every treatment. It's not just relaxing. It's precise.
The results speak for themselves. Reduced puffiness. Brighter skin. A calmer nervous system. Clients often tell me it's the most relaxing treatment they've had, and the most effective.
This is holistic skincare. Supporting your body's own systems, not overriding them.

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about capacity.

Over the last few weeks, mine has been stretched.

Work. Motherhood. Family. Studying. Building a business. Illnesses. Showing up for everyone else.

And it's reminded me of something we don't talk about enough.

Sometimes, the capacity you have is all you have.

Not because you're lazy.
Not because you're failing.
But because you're human.

So many women carry invisible loads. They keep everyone else's world turning while quietly putting themselves at the bottom of the list.

Maybe that's you.

You wake up already thinking about what everyone else needs.
You tell yourself you'll rest when everything is done.
You keep pushing because you feel like you have to.

But your body keeps the score.

The tension in your shoulders.
The constant tiredness.
The feeling that you're surviving instead of living.
The moments when you can't remember the last time someone looked after you.

What if looking after yourself wasn't a luxury?

What if taking just one hour to slow down, breathe deeply, switch off your phone, and let someone care for you actually helped you show up better for the people you love?

That's why Nurtured Essence Studio Exist.

Yes, you'll receive a professional skin treatment.

But more importantly, you'll be given something many of us don't realise we're missing a safe space to pause, regulate our nervous system, quiet our mind, and simply be cared for.

If you've been carrying too much lately, consider this your permission to stop carrying it all, even if it's just for an hour.

And if you're reading this and thinking of someone else a wife, your mum, your sister, your best friend, a colleague, or a woman who gives so much of herself to everyone around her perhaps this is the reminder you needed.

Instead of asking her what she wants, give her what she truly needs: time to rest, breathe, and feel nurtured.

Sometimes the greatest gift isn't another thing.

It's an experience that reminds someone they matter too.

If this resonates with you, I'd love to welcome you into the studio. Let's create space for you or someone you love to rest, reset, and leave feeling nurtured from the inside out.

Your wellbeing isn't a reward for getting everything done it's what helps you keep going. If you're ready to rest, reset, and feel nurtured, send me a message or book your appointment. And if someone you love has been carrying the weight of the world, why not gift them an hour that's just for them?

June has come to an end, and what a month it has been.

Balancing nursing, family life and growing Nurtured Essence Studio has not always been easy. There have been days when I felt tired before the day had really started and moments when I wondered if I could keep juggling it all.

But every time I questioned myself, something reminded me why I started.

A client leaving the treatment room looking lighter than when she arrived.

A message from someone saying they finally felt understood.

Watching someone's confidence grow as their skin began to improve.

Those moments mean more to me than any number.

They remind me that this business has never just been about skincare. It is about creating a space where women can pause, breathe and feel cared for, even if it is only for an hour.

If you have supported my business this month by booking a treatment, liking a post, sharing my content or simply following my journey, thank you. It means more than you know.

If you have been thinking about putting yourself first but have kept talking yourself out of it, let July be the month you say yes to yourself.

Your wellbeing matters too.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that self care is a luxury.

Something you do when the children are older.
When work calms down.
When there is more money.
When everyone else is taken care of.

The problem is that moment rarely arrives.

Instead, many women spend months, sometimes years, putting themselves at the bottom of the list.

They keep going while exhausted.
They ignore the signs of stress.
They tell themselves they'll focus on themselves later.

But later often comes at a cost.

A shorter temper.
Constant tiredness.
Feeling disconnected from yourself.
Looking in the mirror and barely recognising the woman looking back.

Taking one hour for yourself each month will not solve everything.

But it can be the difference between constantly running on empty and finally giving yourself space to recharge.

The women who walk through my door are not selfish.

They are learning that caring for themselves is just as important as caring for everyone else.

Have you ever found yourself putting your own wellbeing at the bottom of the list?

Nobody tells you that becoming a mother changes your relationship with your own body.

Not in that glossy way.
In the quiet, everyday way.

Stretch marks you weren't expecting.
Skin that doesn't behave the way it used to.
A face that looks tired before you've even started the day.

The women I work with aren't chasing youth.
They want to feel comfortable in themselves again.
Familiar.

That's a completely different brief from "anti-ageing."
And it changes everything about how I approach a treatment.

No judgement. No before and after pressure.
Just: what does your skin need, and how are you feeling today.

If that's what you've been looking for, my door is open.

Happy Monday.

A new week. New goals. New opportunities to take care of yourself.

When people hear the words self care, they often think of facials, spa days or taking a long bath.

And yes, those things absolutely count.

But self care can also look like saying no to something that is draining your energy.

It can be going to bed a little earlier.

Taking a walk without your phone.

Drinking more water.

Booking that appointment you've been putting off.

Reading a few pages of a book.

Asking for help.

Taking ten quiet minutes to yourself before everyone else wakes up.

Self care is not always about adding more to your to do list. Sometimes it's about giving yourself permission to slow down and listen to what you need.

As busy mums, business owners, professionals and carers, we spend so much time looking after everyone else that we often end up at the bottom of our own priority list.

This week, I encourage you to take one small step towards your own wellbeing.

Nothing complicated.

Just one thing that helps you feel a little more rested, supported or recharged.

What does self care mean to you?

Share your answer in the comments. I'd love to hear what self care looks like in your world.
