A LITTLE BIT SPOOKY, A LOT OF SPARKLE! 🖤

Another Halloween set finished at Noir this morning for one of my lovely regulars, and I’m loving how these turned out!

We started with a classic black base, added some teeny tiny ghosts, and then gave the other nails a gorgeous multitone shimmer top coat.

And can we just appreciate that shimmer?! Depending on how the light catches it, you get beautiful flashes of green, blue and purple. I’m obsessed!

I love that this set is Halloween without going completely over the top. A little spooky, a little classy and plenty of sparkle.

Thank you to my lovely regular for trusting me to have a little fun with her nails again. 🖤

67 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! 🖤

Yes, you read that right… only 67 days until the big day!

I know, I know… we’re still enjoying our autumn colours, and I’m already mentioning the C word!

But before we know it, the Christmas parties, festive lunches, family get-togethers and last-minute shopping will be here.

And nobody wants to be trying to squeeze a nail appointment in between wrapping presents and remembering they’ve forgotten the cranberry sauce!

A LITTLE BIT SPOOKY, A LITTLE BIT CLASSY 🖤

My very first Halloween nail set on an actual person at Noir!

And we decided to keep things a little more subtle this time.

Soft pinks, a touch of shimmer, delicate spiderwebs and a little sparkle. Because who says Halloween nails have to be dark and scary?

I’ve been practising my nail art on sample tips for weeks, so actually getting to bring one of my Halloween ideas to life on a lovely client’s nails was exciting… and slightly nerve-racking!

Am I still learning? Absolutely!

Is there room for improvement? Always!

But every set is another opportunity to build my confidence, develop my skills and get better at something I genuinely love doing.

And I’m rather proud of this little milestone.

A huge thank you to my lovely client for trusting me and letting me get creative.

THE COSY SEASON HAS ARRIVED AT NOIR 🖤

The colder mornings are creeping in, the coffee is stocked, the hot chocolate is ready and, most importantly, the treat jar is FULL!

Because let’s be honest, a nail appointment is even better when there’s a warm drink and a little chocolate involved!

As the weather gets colder and the evenings get darker, there’s something lovely about stepping into a warm, cosy studio, getting comfortable and enjoying a little time that’s just for you.

At Noir, it’s never just about having your nails or brows done.

It’s about having a good chat, a little laugh, a chance to switch off from everything outside and leaving feeling that little bit better than when you arrived.

And yes, you’re absolutely allowed to help yourself to the chocolates. That’s what they’re there for!

A LITTLE FAVOUR FROM MY LOVELY NOIR LADIES 🖤

I have a confession to make…🤦🏽‍♀️

I am absolutely TERRIBLE at remembering to take photos of your beautiful nails!

Not because I don’t love the finished results, but because I’m usually too busy chatting away, putting the world to rights, discussing what colour we’re having next time and getting your follow-up appointments booked!

Before I know it, you’re out the door and I’m looking at my camera roll thinking…

OH FOR GOODNESS SAKE, JO! NOT AGAIN!

So I’m officially giving you all permission to remind me!

If I’ve finished your nails and haven’t got my camera out, please give me a little nudge and say “Jo, have you taken your photo?”

Because apparently I can remember your holidays, your family stories and what we’re doing at your next appointment… but remembering to photograph the nails I’ve just spent ages creating? Absolutely not!

BUILDER GEL ISN’T ALWAYS THE ANSWER 🖤

I offer hard gel at Noir because not every client’s nails — or lifestyle — suit builder gel.

Builder gel can be a lovely option for some people, but if your nails take more of a battering, you’re prone to lifting or breaking, or you simply need something with a bit more strength and structure, hard gel may be a better fit.

Hard gel is designed to give the nail extra support and durability, while still allowing me to create a natural-looking finish.

The biggest thing for me is choosing the right system for you.

I’ll always look at your natural nails, how you use your hands, your previous retention, and what you actually want from your appointment before deciding what’s going to work best.

There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to nails.

Sometimes builder gel is perfect.

Sometimes hard gel is exactly what your nails have been asking for.

And sometimes it takes a little trial and error to find your perfect match 🖤

MORE HALLOWEEN PRACTICE AT NOIR 🎃

I’ve been having another little play with some spooky-season designs today, and I’m definitely getting more confident with every set.

We’ve got cute little mummies, bows, ghosts, pumpkins and plenty of tiny details to practise.

I actually love doing these practice tips because they give me the chance to slow down, try new techniques, and work out which designs I’d love to recreate on real sets.

Still learning, still practising, and very much enjoying the process 🖤

THE CAT EYE QUEEN WAS BACK IN THE CHAIR 🖤

She came in planning on one colour…

…and left with something completely different because apparently that’s just what happens at Noir now.

We ended up with this gorgeous green and gold combo and I absolutely love how it turned out.

I honestly love appointments like this when a client trusts me enough to change direction, try something different and just go with it.
